It is ideal for those just starting out on a coding hobby as in its original state it can be programmed with Scratch-like blocky code. Once this has been mastered it is a very simple operation to update the device to run CircuitPython and finally to move on to Arduino IDE for maximum low level control of the components.
Most owners will use it in the CircuitPython mode and there are plenty of educational resources on the maker's website, including an easy to follow, 211 page, guide which explains in simple terms, with example code, how to use the LEDs, light and temperatures sensors, microphone and speaker.
