“This is an ideal little module to add charging capabilities to your project with access to both the charge and battery connections via header holes as well as sockets. Personally I would have liked to see the charging indicator connections available via holes on the PCB to enable me to have an external charge indicator (or perhaps place the LED alongside the micro-usb port?). It's also worth nothing it gets rather warm when charging at 500mA.”
“Lovely little piece, charges batteries fully (confirmed with separate voltage monitor), with red LED for charging and green LED for fully charged. (If they are both on, it's not plugged in properly.)
If you know that you'll only ever be charging batteries of at least 500mAh, make sure you solder the jumper closed, as per these instructions:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-microlipo-and-minilipo-battery-chargers/charge-rate
You'll get your battery charged in 1/5 the time. (Don't do it if you'll be using smaller capacity batteries, it's not good for the batteries.)”
“I build gadgets with functionality, and used to power them off 9v cells. Along came LiPo / Lion so, after a long while, I decided to start powering my builds with those instead.
But how to easily recharge them without building extra circuitry? This is the answer. These great little boards don't break the bank and are so simple to integrate. I have even extended the surface mount l.e.d.s, so I can bury this board deep in the innards of a gizmo and still have the charge indicators showing at the surface. The same goes for the USB connections. Just solder extension wires to the USB tabs and your charger socket can be anywhere within reason.
Long term testing has proven that this board will reliably charge a wide range of cells, even an S3 Lion, without problems. Charge time is very impressive, and the small footprint of the device means it can be put just about anywhere.
I plan on using these whenever I can (until they stop making them) and always keep a few in my 'toolbox' ready for the next project.
Now if the only did a 2s version.....”
