“This is useful in several ways: obviously, it works as a magnifier. It does a great job of that, but it also has the advantage that multiple people can reasonably examine roughly the same place simultaneously without having to huddle together behind a single regular magnifier or fresnel lens. More than that, though, it works as a handy paperweight if, for example, you're attempting to stay cool with an electric fan in hot weather! The cloth bag provides excellent protection when the magnifier is not in use or being carried around.”
