Great smoker/grill small enough for my balcony, only negative is it doesn't hold the heat like the big one, but perfect other wise

So happy with this Traeger grill. Wish I would have got one sooner.

Went to a friends BBQ in the USA and he did beer can chicken and ribs on his digital smoker, I had to have one, no messing around with the wood and temperature with these Traegers, fill it up with pellets, switch it on, set the temp and sit back and enjoy a beer or 10 whilst the food cooks, the food tastes fabulous compared to your normal gas or charcoal BBQ. My only critique of the Bronson 20 is there is no easy way to empty the hopper/auger if you want to change the pellet flavours or put it into storage... if that's an issue for you buy the pro series that apparently do have the easy empty, but overall we are very very happy with it

Took delivery of my Bronson20 2 weeks ago - so I am still an amateur as far as Traegar's go. Just thought I'd write this review for those of you who are thinking about buying one - but think £400 for a BBQ is too much. This model is the 'cheapest' in the range - but that doesn't mean to say that it is 'cheap and nasty'. The unit feels sturdy and well built and first impressions are that, if it is looked after, then it should last a very long time. The unit requires some assembly when it arrives, but this is just a case of fitting the stand / legs - it took me about 20 mins to unpack and assemble without any difficulty. Having never owned a wood pellet burner before I was pretty nervous about the complexity of it, however, simple straight-forward instructions are included. It also comes with a handy recipe book and loads more are available from the Traegar website. As well as purchasing the unit itself, you will need some pellets - I bought Traegar's Hickory pellets as they seemed pretty useful for most meats / veg - numerous other 'flavours' are available. The unit has to be 'run-in' for 45 mins before you can start cooking - you simply fill the unit with pellets, turn the dial to 'High' and wait. After 45 mins you can turn the dial to whatever heat setting you desire and start cooking. I've used it 4 times now and I'm loving it - it's really easy to use, minimum mess and cleaning, cools down in about 15 mins when you have finished - oh, and I should mention it cooks superbly. This isn't just a BBQ - it's basically an outdoor oven, you can smoke, grill or bake just about anything - I've even cooked a frozen pizza in it! Needless to say I am now converted - what a fantastic piece of kit. I would also recommend purchasing the protection cover (to protect your investment when it is not in use) and the folding grill as this adds some useful space when you are using the grill.

Having had a Bronson in my collection on BBQ's for just under 2 months now I can safely say I am a convert. Whilst I still love my charcoal smoker and will never part with it, I can see for now at least my attention lies firmly with the Traeger. Mainly because it's cold outside and these BBQ's are just so simple to use. It really is a case of plug it in, pour in your chosen pellets and switch it on. Yes they come boxed up but they are simple to build taking me about 40 minutes on my own. Riverside do offer a service to build it for you but I fancied the challenge. And it was simple to do. There is a good choice of different wood pellets to choose between but I couldn't decide so pretty much bought them all. Also went for the cover which versus the costs of other brands I felt was very good value. Fits perfectly as you'd expect and has so far seen off frost, snow rain and high winds. Back to the Bronson. I've cooked so much on it in so little time. I've done a five bird roast with all the roast dinner trimmings, a full American style packer cut brisket (yes it looks small but the grill space can hold a lot), I've baked some smoked chocolate brownies, smoked 2 turkeys again with all the trimmings, sausage rolls using some rub on the sausage meat that I also got at Riverside, Lobster tails with smoked garlic butter, bavette steak BBQ'd two different ways a rolled shoulder of lamb, some planked burgers, 14 pigs cheeks in one go and I am sure the grill had room for the same again. Even BBQ'd the bacon for a weekend breakfast and baked the rolls on there too. I think you get the idea. From low smokes over hours and hours like the brisket right up to high heat sear on a steak this Bronson can do it all. And it makes it so easy to do. It comes up to temp quickly, and with the added food probes of which there are 2, there is no reason to keep lifting the lid to check the temperature. Just click the button on the control panel and it will tell you the temp of your meats etc. Very clever and saves having to use additional temperature units. So far the Traeger hasn't missed a bit. Being the first pellet smoker I have used I made sure I read the manual from cover to cover so I knew the best way to use it. It runs through the maintenance which is very simple. After every few uses just lift off the diffuser plate and have a quick brush or hoover up of any residual dust and clean out the burn pot. 2 minute job. Then the only other thing I do is foil the diffurser plate/drip tray so its easy to clean and you aren't burning old grease or fat on each use. New challenges for this year is doing some more baking and unusual cooks on it. Genuinely loving using it and worrying less about what temp my charcoal is at. I'll leave that for the summer months.
