About Riverside:

The Riverside Garden Centre has been established since 1997 and is owned and run by Russell and Jo Jeffery who take a very hands-on approach to every aspect of the business. They are always on hand to help and give advice.

Having moved away from being a more traditional garden centre over recent years and evolved into a modern outdoor living destination, Riverside now focuses more on quality and style than it ever did before.

LARGEST WEBER® WORLD BBQ SHOWROOM

Officially the UK's largest Weber® World Barbecue showroom Riverside stocks and displays every Weber® barbecue and accessory available from the small, portable charcoal models, the award winning Q™ range as well as the famous charcoal kettles and outstanding gas barbecues. As a World Store Riverside also stocks a number of exclusive barbecues and accessories not found in regular Weber® stores or outlets.

TRAEGER GRILLS

With the popularity of barbecuing and outdoor smoking growing at a phenomenal rate Riverside has become the 'go to' place for Traeger grills, pellets and accessories. Easier to use than a traditional barbecue a Traeger grill controls the cooking temperature for you and produces perfectly smoked food every time.

FURNITURE SHOWROOMS

Riverside likes to do things big and that includes their furniture ranges too.

With three large fully furnished showrooms bursting with big names including 4 Seasons Outdoor and Alexander Rose Riverside again offers the largest displays of both prestige brands anywhere to be seen in the UK. Be it dining, lounge or modular, virtually every product and set is on display and in stock at the Hertfordshire premises.

SILK PLANTS AND ARTIFICIAL WALL COVERING

To complement the furniture and outdoor living themes Riverside also specialise in high quality artificial plants and trees as well as UV protected foliage-covered screening panels. Particularly popular with interior designers, hotel chains and zoos Riverside's silks plants and wall panels have developed a good reputation both corporately and domestically.

Upsides 1. Removable middle part, so that accessories such as pizza stones and sear grates can be added. 2. The middle part can be cleaned in the sink or in the dishwasher, as it is small. Downsides 1. Using the Weber "Grate lifter", it is nearly impossible to remove the grate without the middle bit falling out (either on to the floor or on to one's foot!). The middle bit does not latch in; rather, it sits in the gap loosely, which means that nothing holds it tightly into the grate. 2. The grate is very heavy, which, added to the middle bit that falls out all of the time, makes it hard to quickly remove and hang/place down. Obviously, the sides lift up; but this is of little use if you are using these side parts for indirect cooking and therefore need to add charcoal elsewhere. 3. The various moving parts - for example, the side panels that go up and down - mean that this grate is much harder to clean that a normal, all-in-one-piece grate. The middle bit rocks about, as do the side bits. The normal, non-GBS grate has no moving parts so is very easy to clean. 4. Food cleans off of the normal grate (using a Weber T-brush) much easier than food cleans off of this Gourmet BBQ System one. Conclusion: It's a bit gimmicky. Only buy this if you intend to use all of the Weber GBS inserts (Pizza stone; Dutch oven; Sear Grate; etc). If you just want a good grate for grilling, go with a normal one.

Well worth the modest (GBP 20+) investment over the standard chrome plated grill. It's a lot easier to clean and comes with the piece of mind that there's no chrome to wear off. Also (just) fits in the dishwasher with no ill effects afterwards and will probably now outlast the rest of the grill. Why on earth Weber don't supply these as standard - or as an optional extra for their GBS grills (especially given it's one of their premium products) is slightly beyond me. Not least you'll be lucky to get 3-4 years out of the standard cooking grate before the chrome has worn off and cleaning it becomes a losing battle.

solid piece of stainless steel kit, should last a long time, unlike the plated version which starts to rust after first use.

Very pleased with the product Compared with the original grate, it's much more substantial. The ability to add more charcoal mid flight is a great plus

If you need to replace your Weber 57cm Gourmet BBQ System Cooking Grate, it is worth spending the extra £10 or so on the stainless steel version. Sturdier and better looking than the standard version.
