“I struggle to describe coffee because I can’t tell you about ‘notes’, whether I’m getting berries or nuts, cheese or apple crumble.
So I thought I’d have a go at characterising Rin’s Pantano single estate from Brazil. If a deeply roasted ‘Italian’ coffee that gives you lots of roast and caffeine is like being woken with a fog-horn then Pantano is like an engaging conversation with a favourite uncle. It’s the difference between heavy metal and Miles Davis - one is bad mannered and smashes your head in, the others show huge depth & class - the more you engage, the more you get.
There’s nothing bad-mannered about Pantano, for me, just pleasure from the first sip to the last.”
