TRAP HANDHELD TRANSMITTERS, 868MHz or 918MHz VERSIONS Reviews

4.2 Rating 5 Reviews
Read RF Solutions Ltd Reviews

The TRAP transmitter range is engineered for reliable operation throughout the year, catering to the heavy usage demands of club traps and other robust applications. It is compatible with all receivers operating in the 868 or 918MHZ range (depending on the TRAP8 or TRAP9 transmitter selected) and now features LoRa technology for enhanced performance.
Each receiver in the system has four independent outputs that can be easily paired with individual switches from multiple transmitters. This flexibility allows for the creation of customized control systems, accommodating transmitters with up to 16 switches.
The transmitter is rated IP67, ensuring protection against dust and water ingress. It offers an impressive range of up to 10 km, making it suitable for extensive applications. Powered by three AAA batteries, it features continuous and state-change transmission modes. Additionally, it provides LED acknowledgment signals from the receiver, confirming successful communication.
A key improvement in this transmitter is the integrated magnet, which simplifies the pairing and erasing processes. This feature enhances usability and streamlines setup.
Overall, the TRAP transmitter range delivers durability, flexibility, and user-friendly operation, making it ideal for demanding environments.

This is one awesome setup. We control 6 skeet machines with this and the only issue we have is if you try to send a "double" by simultaneously pressing two buttons within the same relay block. ie. a 1 and a 3 or a 5 and a 7. The receiver will throw whichever button is pressed first and then gets a bit confused and will not accept any more commands for a few seconds. We found a workaround by pressing one button then the other 1/2 second later, when done in this way it works flawlessly. There is also no issue with pressing simultaneous buttons from different relay blocks, such as a 2 and 7 or 1 and 5. This is explained in the documentation but we missed it when we initally setup our machines.

We have been using the trap 8 to control 6 trap/skeet throwers at a club for about 2 years now, we throw approx 1000 birds a week. We have had no issues with distance from the controller and the machines throw very consistently. The only issue we have is if you press two buttons from the top 4 (1-4) or bottom 4 (5-8) simultaneously you only get the first one that the controller picked up. To throw a double from machines 5 and 8 you have to press 5 then approx 1/2 second later press 8. This issue does not show up if a 1 and 8 or 1 and 5 are pressed together. We just found a way to work around it by moving a few machines wiring around.

Dear David, Thank you for the 5-star rating of our TRAP 8 button transmitter! We appreciate your feedback and are thrilled to hear that it has been serving you well at your club for the past two years. It's great to know that the distance from the controller hasn't been an issue and that the machines throw consistently. We understand the minor inconvenience you mentioned about pressing two buttons simultaneously and only getting the first one picked up. We appreciate your patience in finding a workaround by adjusting the wiring of a few machines. Once again, thank you for being such a loyal customer. We look forward to serving you and your club's needs in the future. Warm regards, Chloe - RF Solutions Ltd

I works well and is fairly easy to use, most of the time. But it tends to be unreliable. At several occations we have had to return this kind of transmitters because of malfunctions that can only be recitified by the manufacturer. It also does not help when they return transmitters without repairing them, prolonging the process, also incurring extra costs for several shippings (outside EU). The manual is confusing, especially when the transmitter is malfunctioning. Replacing batteries is also complicated, more than can be expected from our final customers to handle.

Good Day Lennart, Thank you for taking the time to place this review, we are sorry you were not completely satisfied with the product. Originally. when you returned only part of your system, there was no fault found with it, so this is why we sent it back to you. After you sent us the complete kit we were able to diagnose the problem where it was configured to operate in a different mode. We agree with you regarding the manual, unfortunately, we are no longer legally allowed to ship products with an English-only manual so we must try to provide a pictorial guide. For this reason, we have created short user videos of all the product configuration features, these can be found on our YouTube Channel - @RFSolutionsLtd, please have a look at these, you will find them very helpful. Regarding the battery, this is the industrial version of the product rated to IP68 (Pressure washer proof) and so to access the batteries you need to remove 8 screws, we have other versions of the same product available, for example, an internal-only rechargeable battery which can be wireless recharge (SCORPION) and we have another version of the product (RADIOTRAP) which has an easy access battery flap for easy battery removal (433MHz Only) If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us either via email or phone, our support team is available - Mon-Thurs - 9am-5.30pm and Fri - 9am-4.15pm. Many thanks Best regards RF Solutions Team

Purchased this system to operate two skeet throwers and one trap for our club. We use it every Friday to throw approx 1000 birds a week. It works flawlessly! After 3 years we decided we should have a spare remote in case something happened to the original. Now we have one locked up as a spare just in case. Best purchase we ever made for the club
