<h2>Kestrel Overbanding Tape (HAPAS Approved) has been designed for application to asphalt roads to prevent water ingress and progressive fretting. Prevents water ingress immediately, prolonging the life of your repair.</h2> <p>Application method is to heat the Over Banding Tape with a gas torch and allow to cure for 10 minutes before return to service. </p> <p>Kestral Overbanding Tape is suitable for application to roads, pavements and secondary roads. Kestral Overbanding Tape is applied to the joints in tarmac surfaces to prevent the ingress of water. Water ingress, especially when it freezes, causes not only fretting but also cracking to the surface leading to the breakdown of the tarmac.</p> <p>Overbanding Tape cures within seconds meaning return to service is almost instant.</p> <p>Kestral Overbanding Tape contains a non slip aggregate to reduce any slip hazard and further non slip aggregate can be hand cast to the tape whilst it is still warm to increase its anti-slip properties. The ideal application temperature for Overbanding Tape is 190 degrees centigrade which can be measured with a Non-Contact Infrared IR Thermometer.</p> <h3>Preparation</h3> <p>Before application of Overbanding Tape remove dirt and debris from the joints and surrounding road surface using a stiff broom or brush. Ensure that the road surface is dry. If necessary use a gas torch to dry the cracks and surrounding area.</p> <h3>Application</h3> <p>After preparing the surface by removing dirt and debris from the joints and surrounding road surface using a stiff broom or brush, ensuring the road surface is dry and, if necessary use a gas torch to dry the cracks and surrounding area, apply Overbanding Tape by hand or application roller following the line of the joint. When the joint is covered cut off from the roll and press down thoroughly. The use of a wall paper roller may help the tape adhere. Remove the interleaving film from the tape. Where abrupt changes in direction occur, cut the tape and start a new section, overlapping the end of the previous section by 50mm.</p> <h3>HAPAS Certification</h3> <p>All HAPAS approvals involve laboratory and road tests, site inspection, performance trials and an evaluation of production. Data generated from these key elements are assessed by the BBA’s technical experts and, if acceptable, will form the basis of a draft Certificate which will be drawn up and circulated to HiTAC for their comments. Only then will the Certificate be issued.<br><br>After the Certificate has been issued the BBA ensures that the manufacture, specification and performance of the product is maintained by conducting a minimum of two surveillance visits per year and three-yearly Reviews of the product’s performance in use.</p>
