Controlling marestail / horsetail with SBK and KPlus+
It is highly recommended that you use the adjuvant KPlus combined with SBK to enable the triclopyr to break down the silica outer layer of the horsetail and increases its ability to penetrate into the weed achieving greater results.
For marestail/horsetail control, it may be necessary to retreat several times to eradicate the extensive underground root system.  Once applied, do not cut or roll the treated weed.  Allow the plant to wither and die completely before removing dead plant material.

1 squirt over the marestail and a few days later they turned brown, just what was required. Great stuff, so much left I did the same on next doors with the same result

Absolutely Brilliant! It really works!!! The treatment appears to be selective, generally dealing with the horses tail but leaving the other plants. The measure system is abysmal. The container manufacturer needs to look at this design, as it fails in all aspects. I took the ball out so it did not cause any accident, and measured in a separate measure cup. All considered, the product does actually work 5 Star!

Early days but seems to be doing the trick.

SBK is effective against what appears to be E. arvense (large horsetails) but less to against the finer plants growing in gravel paths and flower beds (so far I have yet to find a botanical name - plenty of pictures but...) Kutail works well against both spp ( and everything else as well)

An excellent product. I used it in a domestic garden setting with mares tails in the borders and in the lawn. Mix the formula (water, then KPlus, shake well, then SBK) into an empty 500ml domestic cleaning product spray bottle. Mixing and using SBK by this method is best done when wearing a pair of marigold gloves to avoid any weed killer spilling onto your hands. Spraying onto a lawn seems to kill the mares tails but not the grass so you can afford to be less fussy about accuracy. The conundrum is that if you mow the lawn regularly then there is less surface area for the SBK to attach onto the mares tails and it will take longer to deal with the problem. The longer/taller and more flared the mares tail the more effective the SBK is. Some people say wait till its 10cm tall. If you don't want them to grow that tall then spraying a smaller compact new shoot sometimes needs a number of sprays over a few days to work. If effective, after 24/48hrs the mares tail will droop. It then shows signs of going mottled brown as the SBK works it’s way down the root. A second spray may be needed after 4 days if it shows signs of resistance. Only clear the mares tails away when the plant is completely dead/brown. In a flower bed you need to be accurate as the weed killer kills other plants. If you can spray them when they are standing up away from other plants then that is best. If you cant then gently lay the mares tail down flat, away from delicate plants. Try to do without pulling too hard on the mares tails delicate shafts (which will cause them to break). The mares tails generally won't spring back up. Spray the mares tails when confident other plants wont be harmed. If you can only spray the upper section of the mares tail then do so as the weed killer will be drawn down into the roots. You will not get all the mares tails in one go. New shoots will come up time and time again. This is a battle to be waged over weeks if not months but persevere and you will get on top of it. The biggest issue is if you think it’s gone under a fence into a neighbour’s garden. Get them involved in the battle. If your neighbour has a mares tail issue which isn't dealt with then you'll be fighting off new shoots forever.

I recommend using the combination supplied by pro green to combat horsetail but I would up the SBK by double. I also make sure I only apply it when the weather is warm and not windy.
