NEW KURTAIL GOLD replaces Kurtail
Kurtail Gold is the new version of Kurtail (once called Kibosh).  Exclusive to Progreen, Kurtail Gold comes as the fully licensed replacement to the highly rated herbicide Kurtail which is proven as an effective total weed killer for many grasses and weeds as well as being  the original and most highly effective product on horsetail - also known as marestail.
The formulation of Kurtail Gold remains the same glufosinate ammonium, so users of Kurtail can still be assured of the effectiveness.

This product is no longer available for sale. A replacement is coming soon!

Kurtail is not selective. Protect plants and grass you do not want to affect from overspray or drift.
Apply between 1st March and  30th September
Controls a wide range of annual and perennial weeds

Application notes and guidance:

Horsetail is often called mare's tail but this is more accurately an aquatic weed (hippuris vulgaris). The correct latin name for horsetail is Equisetum arvense or ‘field horsetail’.NB:  Kurtail Gold is not approved for aquatic use.
Its root system is extremely vigorous and can grow very deep which is why it can regenerate after treatment and cultural controls, such as digging or rotorvating, will only spread and multiply the problem in the short term.
It is preferable to allow the horsetail/marestail weed to wither and die naturally before cutting or removing the weed. If this is not possible, then a minimum of 3 weeks should elapse before cutting or removing. Any horsetail/mares tail roots which emerge after treatment will require respraying.
Spraying should not take place if rainfall is due within 8 hours (minimum), 24 hours is preferable for best results.
Please read the label before use.
Please note that more than one application may be required, as new growth can emerge after the initial application.

Hard water issues:
KPlus+ is a water conditioner that ensures efficient plant action of pesticides and improves rainfastness. Water usually makes up over 95% of a spray solution, therefore it can have a huge impact on spray results. Hard water normally contains high levels of calcium. With some herbicides, high levels of calcium can render herbicides ineffective. KPlus+ 250ml is a spray water conditioner, specially developed to improve herbicide results - just add 100ml to an 20L knapsack BEFORE adding your herbicide. It acidifies spray water, offers better leaf coverage and improves herbicide uptake in the target weed. It also means increased rainfastness and faster weed knockdown.

It works!!! It REALLY does!!! If you are in despair about the annual rampaging of the dreaded 'Mares Tail' weed, then despair no more. Yes, the solution is expensive. There is no denying that. But, if it does the job, where other treatments have failed, then it is worth every penny. Be absolutely assured that within just a few days of applying 'Kurtail Gold' the 'Mares Tail' just shrivels up and dies an ignominious death!!! And good riddance! Buy with confidence, it WORKS!!!

Having a garden overgrown with marestail I was pleasently surpised with the results so far. Have also informed my neighbour about your product...hope he takes the hint.

Seems to be working okay. Had to do a second application as I'd missed some bits, but looking good so far. Kinda expensive at first glance, but I'm sure you'd spend a fortune on lesser products before eventually having to revert to using this anyway, so probably best off using this straightaway instead

We inherited an allotment infested with horsetail. It has taken three years to almost get rid of it. There is very little horsetail left. The Kurtail has done the job.

Having tried to get rid of Mares Tail for a couple of years, I have at last found a product that appears to be killing it although it has only been a week since I sprayed it. Fingers crossed it has done the trick but I daresay I will need another bottle to endure that it has finished it off.

The advice given was to let the Mare's Tail grow to about 6ins before treating it. I applied the product in 2 goes as I wanted to see what the result was before tackling the whole garden. Within a week the weed exposed to the treatment started to turn black so gave me confidence to tackle the remainder. Now, those have turned black and the ones from the first time are brittle to the touch. The problem is by no means over as it needs vigilant attention. I await with optimism at how long it will be before the problem is eradicated though. It is a contact weedkiller so unsure what happens at root level.

Excellent product, it really works. The dreaded horsetail curled up and died. Might have to re-spray but will be happy to do so.
