I am a new Router user, never having laid hands on any router previously. So I can only review from that perspective. I find this comfortable to use, easy to handle, and with all the features I thought I might need; I am pleased with the research that I did to end up with this make and model. It is not too powerful for a first time user, more that it's power means there is no struggle. My only slight criticsm, as a reviewer somewhere has commented before, the plunge depth stick doesn't land in the middle of the stepped wheel (the lowest one isn't landed on at all); I haven't looked how to adjust this yet!

Bought this to try sign making with a jig I bought from Rutland's tool company. Don't think it's a patch on my triton routers . It feels stiff and very awkward to work. Hopefully I'll get the hang off it. But kind off expected better from trend.

Bought this to join two worktops , and the result was really impressive. I’m very pleased with my purchase, and can’t wait to use on other routing projects.

A bit of background. I am long retired and did my City & Guilds Craft and Advanced Craft in Carpentry and Joinery some fifty years ago. I recently decided to refit our kitchen - make new doors, fix new worktops etc. and realised that my old MOF96 1/4" router would not be up to the job. I did some research and after rejecting routers from both ends of the price range, hit on the Trend T7EK. I ordered it from Powertool World on June 7th and it arrived on June 9th at the time promised by the carrier. It came in a nice black blowmoulded box which also contained a sliding fence with micrometer adjustment and centring pin, two bushes 15mm and 30mm, a dust extractor, a vacuum adapter, a 24mm spanner, and a black cowl thing which is not mentioned in the instructions - underside dust extraction maybe? It's no lightweight and feels reassuringly solid. I cut out a sink aperture, a pair of mitre joints, and several straight cuts in 40mm worktops using the 30mm bush and a new 12.7mm x 63mm cutter. I did it all the cuts in 10mm steps and every one was perfect. I was very impressed. The on/off switch, the plunge lock, and the 6-speed adjuster are all well placed to use easily. However, I do have a couple of quibbles. You will find it difficult to get 50mm plunge without sliding the cutter out of the collet about 10mm for a final pass. I had to compress the springs pretty hard to get 42mm to cut my worktops, even though I started with the cutter tip flush with the rim of the bush. The depth gauge is made of some die-cast stuff (monkey metal we used to call it) and the locking wing nut makes an indent when tightened. This means that the gauge slides into the nearest indent when you try to adjust it. There are about 20 such indents in mine now. You can adjust it with the micrometer knob of course, but it shouldn't be necessary. The clear plastic dust shroud seems flimsy, especially when the vacuum hose is attached, or when lying the router on its back to change a cutter. Maybe it's stronger than it looks. Despite the above, I would recommend the T7EK, although not for a novice.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. We are surprised to hear of this as majority of the comments we have received for this router have been very positive. Don’t forget if you believe the product to be faulty in any way you have a full manufacturer warranty in place to address any concerns you may have. Kind regards, Ian@Powertoolworld.co.uk
