“Researched small routers before purchase for quality and build and am not disappointed with the Makita trimmer. Later bought the plunge base and am thoroughly pleased with both. Easy to set up and set bit depth to within 1mm and trim depth to +- 0.2mm, although the plunge base is more accurate for depth. More powerful than expected but not purchased for power, more for lightness and and one handed use. As a retired mechanical engineer I appreciate well made tools and the rt0700x. Certainly qualifies. So glad I was not tempted by cheap clones. Guide bushes: You gat a reasonable 12mm metal guide bash with the trimmer. Additional bushes are quite expensive for a small piese of metal and quite difficult to provure. The plunge base uses larger diameter bushes that ate compatible with other Makita products and more available. That said, care needs to be taken when ordering as not all Makita bushes will fit. The fence supplied with the trimmer is o.k., and improved by adding a wood batan. The plunge base comes with an attachment allowing the trimmer base to be used on both. Trimmer comes with 1/4 and 3/8 collets but metric collets are expensive, although the Katsu clone set of metric collets fit and are good quality. Beware, the bore of the Makita is 9.5 mm so a 10mm shank bit only slides in to the depth of the collet - about 9mm so not used. Must recommend the trimmer and plunge base as they are a pleasure to use and of good value.”
