Combine this with a selection of good blades, saxton, and it saves a lot of arm work. Heavier than a DeWalt but still excellent and being Makita should last longer. A 5ah battery lasts a hour or so cutting branches almost continuous.

I bought this saw mainly to cut down thirty feet of Privet hedge and because most of my Power Tools use the Makita LXT battery system. Be aware this is private not trade use. I found that, at the price I paid, it was a much cheaper option than paying someone to do the job and I end up with a useful saw. The tool made short work of the job with the supplied wood blade. If used as advised the saw was controllable and noise and vibration were no problem. I also bought some longer, ridiculously cheap, Saxton wood blades to have a go at the 8" diameter remains of an Apple tree. By working around cutting wedges and then the centre I was able to do it. However the saw was struggling and I would not advise doing too much of that sort. The long blades were also rubbish, immediately blunting. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

Good piece of kit, used existing 3Ah battery lasts as long as I require, DIY, cutting pallets, small tree branches etc. Price good, only down is no carry case and Makita one is extortionate, also they are bomb proof you would thing Makita would do low cost case.
