Makita DHS680Z 18v Brushless Circular Saw 165mm Body Only
The DHS680 is Makita's first brushless circular saw, which becomes one of the latest member of Makita's impressive line up of 18v Lithium-ion cordless tools. Boasting a brand new brushless motor and some new in-built features, the DHS680 looks set to become one of the most popular cordless circular saws on the market.
Sold as body only. Batteries and chargers are sold separately.
FEATURES

Highly efficient brushless motor, that has several benefits over the non brushed equivalent. Firstly, because their are no brushes within the motor, none of the battery power is wasted on creating the heat and friction that happens when using brushes, so consequently the battery lasts longer (per charge) and the energy created by the battery is far more efficient, allowing your tool to achieve higher capacities, so this saw will be able to cut longer, faster and into tougher materials
Another benefit of the brushless motor is that, because there are no moving/touching parts in the motor there is nothing wearing away at anything else and getting damaged. Your motor is actually going to be kept in far better condition than before
One more impressive new feature is the 'Automatic Speed Control' found on this saw. This feature allows the computer chip built into the saw to determine the most efficient cutting speed for the job that you're doing! It speeds up or reduces the speed of the saw making sure that it only uses the right amount of energy when required - making sure you get the most out of your saw, blade and battery
Another handy new feature is the battery state indicator which uses 3 LED lights to illuminate the amount of battery charge you have left so you'll never be caught without power just when you need it
Soft start for smooth start-up
Tool hanger allows you to hang the saw when not in use
Blower function blows sawdust off cutting line
Larger base than similar models that gives a more stable operation
Electronic current limiter for overload protection
Large lock off lever for ultimate safety
The twin LED job light ensures full visibility of the work piece
The Ergonomic soft grip and overall compact & lightweight design gives the user full control and comfort
Guide rail adaptor available separately 196953-0

Excellent saw, absolutely brilliant for cutting 18mm MDF sheets. 45 degree cuts were excellent. Wish I had bought a cordless saw years ago! Would definitely recommend it.

I already had the Makita drill and driver set which came with 2 x 5Ah batteries so it made sense to stick with the Makita brand. I'm really pleased with the saw and have used it to board out my garage with 18mm ply as well as various storage cupboards and a workbench. It's handled everything so far with ease. I find its adjustment easier than the mains powered Dewalt I have. It did need truing up out of the box to cut straight, again this was an easy adjustment. As a woman I feel it's worth mentioning that this saw is lightweight and can be handled all day without fatigue. The Dewalt isn't full size but still feels quite heavy compared to the Makita. It was purchased from Screwfix, which incidentally cost me £30 more in March 2018.

Brilliant little saw, cuts joists and 25mm marine ply effortlessly. Adjustment levers well positioned and quick/easy to use. Only criticism is the led light is completely useless, has been placed to light the blade instead of cutting guide.

It is what it is and certainly does what it's supposed to do and it does it with ease. Very 1st use was to cut up 2 old fire doors which are solid to make another work bench. I was gonna use my table saw but this arrived bang on time. I had to slightly adjust the base plate angle so it was perfectly square with the tiny little grub screws but this was easy and whilst I was at it I made sure the 45 was spot on. I used a 4ah battery and after plenty of cutting it didn't make much of a dent in the battery power so the brushless motor is worth the extra money by far. All in all another great Makita product. I have now replaced all my Makita tools with the new brushless versions.

Great piece of kit. Pleasure to use as it fits well in hand and isn’t too heavy. Plenty of power to deal with 50mm+ timber. Good adjustment and capable of accurate work relatively speaking. Battery life is not so long, so go for a big battery if you can.
