Makita 5Ah 18v LXT Battery & Charger Kit inc 2x 5.0Ah Batteries & DC18RC Charger
This kit contains 2x Makita BL1850B 18v 5.0Ah Li-Ion batteries with LED state of charge indicator and a DC18RC 18v intelligent charger.
The greater capacity within the 5.0Ah battery protects against over-heating and high discharge during heavy demand operations, thus extending the working life of the battery. The need to carry additional batteries, or be able to recharge batteries regularly, can be avoided by choosing the 5.0Ah battery option. This battery has the Makita 'Star' technology so if your tool also has a 'Star' you can be assured of battery protection.
The DC18RC has a cooling fan and Active 3 Controls. This means that during the loading of the charging voltage, charging current, and the temperature is held in the holes. The cooling system blows cool air into the battery. As a result, high temperatures occur in the battery, so that the battery life is extended, and the charging process is accelerated.

I immediately charged the two batteries upon arrival and it was thankfully quick, but as soon as I started using one I knew their performance was assured and that charging time would not present an issue in even more heavy use e.g. requiring two batteries in a rapid rolling relay of one charging during the other's use - you'd suppose jobs like that demand a corded tool and it would be preferred, but what these represent in value for money, when coupled with the array of Makita tools they fit, points at the more economical 'body only' purchases and a battery system method for carrying less, being able to go further off grid for longer and I look forward to being better equipped in this way.
