Good handy tool which gets into awkward places that one would struggle to reach with a circular saw or jigsaw.

Not too heavy therefore easy to handle and use with one hand if necessary.

Excellent quality product from DeWalt as usual. Excellent quick change mechanism. Comfortable to use and no trailing leads. Bought for DIY use and expect it to last years as my other DeWalt tools.

The saw arrived quickly from Powertool World and well packed. Easy to fit a blade, just lift the locking gate, slide in the blade and release and its locked. Lovely. I bought a 5AH and put this on to charge when it arrived and tried the saw with a fully charged 4AH 18v XR battery. It is light to handle and using a pruning blade to cut an overgrown hazel hedge, I started with a 3 inch limb that the saw made short work of! I found it important not to hold the saw to tightly as it can vibrate quite a lot. I was so impressed with the saw that I used up the 4AH after about 30 minutes and then went on to the fully charged 5AH and was able to complete the hedge in about 3 hours, with one more battery change. This would have taken about two days with a hand saw. I have since used the saw for building raised beds, cutting 3x3 section and trimming 6x1 planks. With a metal blade I was able to slice through one plank with nails no problem. All in all another excellent 18v tool from Dewalt.

Excellent saw, I am very pleased with my purchase. One small criticism is the vibration. Under load it is damped a bit by the sawing action but prior to cutting when under no load I have to keep the revs lower as it is hard to get an accurate start to the cut. I have a number of Dewalt XR 18v tools I am hoping that the compatibility to other voltages (eg 54v) will save me abandoning tools when the batteries wear out.
