“Fluidmaster 747s (with brass shanks) have been my preferred float valves for over 20 years. I've installed many hundreds of them. Quiet, reliable, simple to maintain with long-lasting diaphragm washers. The 1/2" versions are easy to find in plumbers merchants, but on this occasion I needed a 3/8" version to replace a low quality 'WDI' float valve within a concealed WC cistern (connected via 3/8" flexi hose).
