“Great Japanese style headgear with a lot of style.
The visibility is decent about standard. The inside being this suede like material is good because it moves less on your head/face when it is hit and you’re sweaty. A negative is I can see is this material is already starting to pile.
Looks fantastic and leather has a nice slightly shiny finish in person. I prefer this look compared to the new sgh-250 because of its sleeker cheek protector shape and the colores phenom logo on the forehead.
My head is 22.5 inches circumference and this headgear needed to be broken in. It is stiff right off the bat and flat out hurt the area behind my ears it was so hard. After about 5 sessions of use and setting the velcro quite wide it is much better & doesn’t get uncomfortable even for 8 rds. At first I was unsure about it and was considering a return but it was worth the wait.
Another complaint is the Velcro system with the padding on the back of the head. I can appreciate padding for rabbit punches but it isn’t needed. It would be slightly better with just lace like the sgh-250/ Winning FG-2900.
With the matching gp-200 groin protector it looks slick for sure.
