XDT-200 Lace Contest Training Gloves White / S/M Reviews

5 Rating 2 Reviews
It's a nice product. Over the past 6 weeks, it has been a nice experience transitioning to these gloves for padwork and bagwork for Muay Thai. I use the black S\M glove with a lace converter, and I would argue that it does feel like an 8 oz gloves. When I got it from the box, I didn't have any issues with the product itself and with breaking my pair in. The fist and thumb cavity are spacious but snug, and the material that lines the inside is a nice smooth suede with some form of cotton padding. The stitching on all the seams still seem very intact despite having used my pair for 25+ rounds, and the contouring of the leather is practically as if the gloves were laminated with leather (it is very tight!). What I really love about the glove is that it's designed as a punchers glove. The padding in the knuckle area isn't pillowy; it is more springy and firm, which is pretty well suited to my style. I've noticed also that if you were to hold out the glove square in front of you so that the logos were facing you, there is an incline biased from the outside of the knuckle area towards the thumb area, which is pretty characteristic of good boxing gloves. Muay Thai has a different form of boxing than actual, contemporary boxing. Our guards (hand-wise) are much more higher and open due to the possibility of elbows, knees and high kicks. For that reason Muay Thai glove designs have to accomodate for wrist mobility and open palms whenever a fighter prefers a long, traditional thai guard in certain situations. The reason I really love these gloves is that I don't have to sacrifice my style simply due to the design, which is that of a low-kicker that loves to mix contemporary boxing in the pocket. Whenever I decide to use a long guard, the gloves aren't too constricted around the knuckles and wrists that I can keep my palms open for clinching and parrying teeps, etc. It's honestly a really solid glove. I prefer it over Rival's Guerrero, especially due to the fact that these are lace-ups. I am not such a big fan the XDT-200's leather, however. It is more grainy and less smooth compared to the likes of the genuine leather that Fairtex and Rival uses. This doesn't make such a difference in the actual auditory feedback that I get after each strike during bagwork or padwork, though, and doesn't affect its performance at all. Anyways, thanks for your time.
