Pets Pyjamas organised our stay extremely well, the Devonshire Arms was delightful, the room decor to a high standard, pets accommodated in the Brasserie for our evening meal and in the conservatory for breakfast, lovely setting and staff could not do enough for us. Will definitely be back!

Everything was wonderful from the moment we were greeted at reception with smiles they patted Teddy and gave him a treat. Dogs are welcome in the dining hall for breakfast in a small doggy room and in rhe Brasserie bar. I have been going to Devonshire arms since I was 20 years old - I had my 60th birthday party there - nothing has changed still perfect.

Booked the Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa because of the dog friendly walks and the spar facilities. When I arrived I was greeted by the concierge who brought my luggage in all smiles. Then when checking in the reception told me they no longer have anywhere to leave your dog or anyone to watch him! “We stopped doing that sir” Not what I was told when booking… Then walking to my room I was thinking to myself, so now I can’t use the spar, pool great! Id booked in for three nights at £276.30 per night that’s with breakfast and dinner. I booked a double deluxe, my bedroom at home is bigger. The bathroom was small and you have to step over the toilet to get into the shower that’s in the bath. The pictures on the walls weren’t straight, jaunty angles and I could hear the people in the room next door talking thought the walls. There was some biscuits and crisps in the room when I arrived, even at £276 per night they never got re-stocked. Breakfast – it’s a pre order selection that you hand into reception the night before. I selected to have room service as I have to take medication at 8am and can’t take it on an empty stomach. The first day breakfast arrived and they got my order wrong, there was no scrambled eggs, no tea spoon for the coffee, no sugar and no butter for the toast. Day 2 (after notifying reception of the poor breakfast) there was extra spoons, butter and sugar. Day three, breakfast never arrived. I had to call reception and as nobody was at the desk nobody answered the phone. Eventually half an hour later I spoke to reception he said he would call me back. Then five minutes later he called back and said it might have gone to the wrong room give us twenty minutes. The food arrived, substandard, cold, bacon like shoe leather, fruit salad from a tin. Lunch – had sandwiches in the bar. For a sandwich that cost more than £10 it was not worth the money. Dinner – they were tasty and I enjoyed my evening meal. Great walks, but if you walk past Bolton Abbey and to the café it’s not dog friendly. The staff are friendly and helpful. A nice hotel but value for money, luxury no it is not.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 2 nights Aug25-27th 2021. The grounds are beautiful on arrival the scenic views surrounding this hotel are stunning! Bolton Abbey is very picturesque. We where on our Anniversary accompanied by our Boxer dog Margot. The staff where very welcoming, our room was comfortable and clean with a completely treat for our dog and a bottle of complementary champagne for us! Lovely surprise. Our stay was wonderful from start to finish, the food was good, the walks and relaxing atmosphere was just what we needed. Highly recommend. We will certainly be back for another visit.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? It's a really lovely place, but is a huge treat!
A really lovely hotel and very dog friendly. There are some fabuloys waljs and we were very lucky with the weather. The only downside was that it was a little too pricey. I don't mind paying hotel prices but this was just a little bit too much!

We found all the staff to be very welcoming, lovely and friendly, both towards us and our dog Daisy. She settled in the room almost immediately and joined us in the Brasserie for dinner where she enjoyed watching other dogs sat with guests. Our dog was happy to be left alone in the room when we had breakfast, which was in the Burlington restaurant where dogs aren't allowed. We stayed on a D,B&B basis for 3 nights and the dinner menu didn't change at all, so for anyone staying longer the limited choice may be an issue. As I am disabled we took a classic ground floor room, which was very spacious, possibly as an accessible room it was larger than some. My one gripe was that the wet room had a wash basin that looked stylish and elegant , but was totally impractical from a functional point of view. Similarly the shower had an on/off switch that I found very difficult to turn. Hence 4 stars awarded not 5 stars. The hotel itself is beautifully furnished and the various wall art attractive and interesting. Many lovely walks suitable for a dog and mobility scooter in the area, just a pity the kissing gate from the hotel to the river walk didn't have a Radar key system and wasn't large enough for my husband to manoeuvre the scooter through. May be something the hotel could consider changing?
