We paid more than the headline price advertised over the Easter weekend, which averaged out at £240 a night, which included a decent breakfast selection. The location is fab. I highly recommend downloading the all trails app, the pub is on a number of stunning circulars and some of the best walks we have done. Lovely residents lawn complete with dog bins plus an outside terrace for drinks and lunch in the sun. The pub itself reserves a special area inside for guests to dine with their dog. Staff were very good I thought, very friendly and speedy service. We ate at the pub twice and food was nice, good cocktail menu. They had dog biscuits! Our room was nice but a little cramped for the price paid. We had a roll top bath tub which was lovely, but no standing shower, which was a little bit of a faff in the mornings. No fridge in the room for our dogs beloved butternut but the pub happily stored in their fridge for us. If we’d have wanted to do some work here we may have struggled for space in the room. I suspect the room could have been very warm in the summer months. Overall a solid 4 and we’d definitely come back, but maybe at a cheaper rate.

My pooch made himself at home straight away and loved all of the fuss from the staff Clean, modern yet cozy bedroom with plenty of space Great food for both dinner and breakfast At least 3 decent length walks (4 miles plus) from the pub itself with lots only a short drive away

We recently stayed and enjoyed enjoyed a meal at the white horse. We had booked a feature room and upon arrival we’re shown to a lovely room Upstairs however my dogs are dachshunds so would of struggled with stairs so we were given an alternative room in the courtyard. Really lovely and spotlessly clean. Staff were really friendly and we dog bowls and cushions were given for them In the room. We both chose the roast and and it was delicious. There was a lovely relaxed feel in the restaurant. Service was really good. We will definitely stay again.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at the White Horse. Everything was perfect and our dog Ozzy was made so welcome. Rooms were good quite small but very stylish and bathroom with walk in shower. Food was good. We had breakfast and dinner both days and couldn’t fault anything. Staff were attentive and very helpful. Would Definately return.

The inner garden looks secure and we were told by staff it was safe to let our dog off . We did so and he went straight through a large gap running towards a very busy road . The nice thing is that dogs are allowed everywhere and there were several pets pyjamas customers there; but the dog bed in our room was so small that there was only room for half our Labrador ! It had a chewed- off handle and was very tatty . There was only one bowl when we had expected two - food and water - and no real thought had gone into pet guests . No water bowls outside doors , no treats at the bar - could do better ! From our own viewpoint the room was l lovely with easy outdoor access. A pipe burst in the kitchen ( nobody’s fault ) so there was no evening meal for my husbands birthday or breakfast next morning . Honestly a beginner on the Apprentice could have rustled up a continental breakfast from the local co-op ! There was plenty of water in other spaces just not in the kitchen itself . We were refunded the breakfast ( I hope! ) and given a bottle of wine to compensate for having to buy our own fish and chips for the birthday dinner . Not really good enough as we spent much of the break wondering whether to move or stay put . Not very relaxing .

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Thank you Pets Pyjamas for finding this hotel where both us and our dog were made to feel very welcome.
Just returned from a relaxing winter break in an extremely dog friendly hotel located in the lovely South Downs. A small but well equipped quirky bedroom. The evening meals were good and the breakfasts excellent and our dog really appreciated his breakfast sausage! Our dog was made very welcome and the staff were very friendly.

A nice pub setting and the staff were on the whole friendly and accomodating though I don't think there was much of an extra 'bow-wow' factor here. While the staff were pleasant and acknowledged Lulu, there wasn't anything extra on offer. A dog biscuit at least would have been something (which is offered in most dog-friendly pubs we visit) but even this wasn't forthcoming. I see some reviewers here have spoken of treats and even cooked breakfasts being offered to their dogs, so I am not sure why Lulu wasn't deemed worthy of this. The room was fine if a little cosy. The food offering here was sadly all too average - they could do with more choice and better execution and presentation of the dishes to offer a truly memorable experience in this respect.

Friendly staff, but some not very helpful. Very good breakfast, average dinner. Nice restaurant, cozy. No privacy in room, unless blinds are shut all the way. Unless you are on upper floor, there is no real privacy, and if you are, there are only rooflight windows. Not a well designed place at all.
