Dogs are sometimes tolerated at hotels but rarely welcomed as much as they are at Dryburgh Abbey. From the initial welcome at reception to all the staff members we met in bars and restaurants, they couldn’t have been more welcome. Aside from that the setting of this hotel on the banks of the River Tweed is stunning. A beautiful stop-off if breaking a long journey up to Northern Scotland or a lovely place for a longer break in its own right.

We spent a fabulous night at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel in April. The receptionist was extremely helpful and upgraded us to a larger room on the ground floor as we had 2 dogs and I was using a walking stick. The hotel is very dog friendly with plenty of long walks to take them on. Meals were delicious and we had a lovely time. We will definitely be back.

Nice hotel, lots of dogs. Made to feel very welcome. Good food. Disappointed the pool is closed. Lots of nice walks on the grounds and nearby.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Was a bit disappointed that that after a nine hour drive we couldn't eat at the hotel for the first night as they were fully booked.
Stayed here for 2 nights in December. Lovely traditional Scottish Hotel. Made to feel very welcome. Food was lovely. Fabulous walks from Hotel doorstep.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Make it clear when people book that they won't be able to eat in the hotel on a Thursday.
Lovely location and grounds. Spacious bedrooms. Friendly and helpful staff. But beware, the restaurant is closed on a Thursday and one has to drive a number of miles to find somewhere to eat.

Food was very poor, I had fish and chips, full of grease, I ate a small amount and was Ill with tummy upset. Room while large was not what I would class as inviting. The place is tired, grubby chairs in the lounge. Swim pool and sauna been closed for past two years, they should be taken off their advertising, I was really looking forward to using those facilities, a huge disappointment all round, stayed one night, was booked in for four nights. A huge loss to my pocket. Staff were pleasant enough.

The Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is situated adjacent to the ruins of the Abbey built by monks in the twelfth century with views over the fast flowing river Tweed. Plenty dog walking opportunities in the area and the hotel food and accommodation are very good. Staff are very welcoming to dogs.

The whole reason we booked was to take our dogs with us, and for that I could not fault the hotel. Dogs are allowed almost everywhere, can be left in the room if you so wished, and are fussed over by the staff. The hotel and rooms are in need of a little TLC and updating, but the beds were comfortable and the grounds are lovely. We stayed as a family of two adults and two children, but had to book two separate rooms as they didn’t have a family room. This made things a bit more difficult which was a shame.
