We loved the resort and so did the dog! Our room in the hotel was lovely, the staff were welcoming and professional, and the facilities excellent. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and dogs can be walked all round the resort. Dogs are always spoken to by staff, who seem genuinely to like them. Our only reservation about it all is that dogs are not allowed in the lovely restaurant with panoramic views over the hills: we had to eat in the Cellar bar with no natural light, whether it was breakfast or dinner. Staff told us it was because some clients might not like dogs or be allergic to them, which we understand, but there is enough space to allow dog owners to sit in at least one section of the space. We mentioned this, and staff said they would pass the message on. We will definitely return.

We stayed for two nights with our daughter and three dogs. The staff were all really welcoming and the accommodation was spotless and of a really high standard. We used the pool and the spa which were both great and had a drink in the bar. My husband played golf with one of the staff team and really enjoyed it. The shop is pricey but the products are yummy. We didn’t get a chance to try any of the activities but we would if we stayed again. The only thing I would change is being able to take dogs into the restaurant and bar as we would have been more likely to eat in them but as it was we ate out or self catered. Overall a really lovely place and a good base for exploring north Devon.

We had a wonderful stay at the Mole resort. Our room was large, leading onto the gardens and our dog Gertie thoroughly enjoyed her welcome pack! It is extremely dog friendly which meant we could enjoy the excellent food served in the cellars bar and the staff couldn't have been nicer to us and Gertie. The views from the resort are stunning with walks from the resort and Instow beach ,not being too far away, was great for a dog run.All in all, perfect for a human and dog break and we shall be going back. Thank you Pets Pyjamas for arranging this for us!

Despite a few hiccups with our stay at The Mole, (1.5hr check in delay; room had not been properly cleaned and we later found out that some staff members had stayed in our lodge and were not aware that they needed to vacate so I think it must have been a quick scramble to get their things out and a quick but not thorough clean, some of their items were still left in the cupboards; some items that were listed in the kitchen utensils were missing, like the microwave, wine bucket, cooking oven paper; and on check out they said we had eaten breakfast in the bistro which we hadn’t - but after alerting them to the issues they were very apologetic and within the hour they had delivered a new microwave, an apology card with flowers and a 20% discount on a next stay)…so all in all, we loved the place. It is so peaceful and the lodge we stayed in (two bed meadows) was lovely. I especially like that the hot tub was very hot (not luke warm like most hot tubs which I don’t enjoy). There are plenty of activities, which unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy all together as although the place is dog friendly, you can’t take your dog with you to most of the activities and can’t leave them alone in the accommodation, so sadly, we had to take it in turns to dog-sit whilst one of us went to enjoy the leisure facilities and take turns which wasn’t ideal. We couldn’t do many of the activities as a family (daughter aged 7 plus two small dogs). I would suggest perhaps introducing a doggy day care at the resort which would allow families to enjoy all the activities and facilities at the resort together. We would go back, but would not take the dogs next time or would hope that a doggy care facility was introduced which would solve our problem and make our stay more enjoyable.

Dear Janine, Thank you for your very valuable feedback, in particular regarding pet friendliness. As a result, The Mole Resort are making improvements accordingly. This includes allowing dogs to be left unattended in the accommodation, as well as better communicating their guidelines. They have listened to your comments and are making some positive improvements. Your feedback was a great insight, so thank you! We hope to book you another dog-friendly holiday soon. Very Best Wishes, Jess from PetsPyjamas 🐾

We stayed in one of the new 2-bedroom lodges which were fantastic - clean, spacious and included a hot tub with a fenced-in decking area (great for the dog). The resort is a great place to stay with your dog but a number of the activities and the main restaurant were off-limits to dogs. This wasn't an issue in itself and completely understandable given the nature of the resort but it does need a little planning to find things to do outside of the hotel (not an issue if you have someone willing to dogsit whilst others are keeping busy). If I were to holiday in Devon again, I would personally look for somewhere slightly nearer to the coast but if you're looking for a countryside retreat and some very good local pubs then you won't be disappointed.
