Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Expensive for room only tariff. Nice dog bed provided!

“Rooms are accessed by an emailed combination lock. There is no personal welcome. Housekeeping staff were however very friendly to dogs and people. Food is provided by the Colin Nash Restaurant next door. Again, dog friendly staff but dogs restricted to tables in the bar area. Why? Evening meals good but breakfast not so much - and no healthy food which is disappointing given its connection to the Retreat. Good outside area for dogwalking.”

“Hotel is lovely & clean and the rooms are very comfortable, our room (#9) faced the rear garden so very quiet. The staff were all super friendly and the breakfast & food in the Colin Nash restuarant was delicious. We liked the fact that we let ourselves into reception and the room, made things much easier. Great location for many of the lovely Dorset beaches & the New Forest, we and our dogs would return.”

“Despite being located beside a noisy road there are acres of countryside at the back of this hotel for some lovely walks. All the staff are very welcoming and friendly towards both humans and dogs. It is important to note that this is a "health retreat" with yoga classes and more going on and it is very much a DIY hotel - not staffed in the normal sense of a hotel ie no reception. The rooms have been refurbished and modernised as much as is possible for a Georgian building and are comfortable. There is a very good restaurant adjoining run separately with very friendly and helpful staff. Dinner was excellent ..... we thought breakfast a little pricey. In short a very enjoyable stay but I would never go back IF I couldn't get a garden facing room as the rooms at the front suffer from the noisy road.”

“We were slightly disconcerted by there being no reception/staff on site. Unlike other hotels there was no opportunity to have drinks/food served. There were tea/coffee making facilities in our room. No bottled water though. Once we were used to letting ourselves into our room via a keypad, we enjoyed our stay. The garden & building could do with some maintenance. It is more a place for yoga, retreats etc. and this should be made more clear before booking. The restaurant on site (but separate) was excellent and we enjoyed two evening meals there. The cafe on site (but separate) served delicious scrambled eggs but the drinks were under par.”

“We had to switch rooms on the second night as the green emergency light was very bright and the bath and shower leaked. The manger was accommodating and switched our room We booked 3 nights 2nd night we got back to the room and it had not been cleaned / beds made no re fill of tea coffee etc which was disappointing. Breakfast in the cafe was fine but limited. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel as there are old windows and noise from the road is loud.”

“The most obvious thing to explain is this is not a country hotel but more a dorm room set up. Key pad to enter and key pad to room. No receptionist and no hotel bar / comfy chair hang out. Bed was very uncomfortable with lumpy mattress.”

“I had a beautiful stay at the Retreat New Forest with my border terrier Luigi. Firstly the self-check-in was made things really easy. We went straight to the room to drop our bags and then headed to the hotels many acres of land for a walk. All of the staff I encountered were lovely and really dog-friendly and the hotel is in the perfect location. There was a communal fridge for Luigi's dog food and water bowls and poo bins dotted around the property. The building is super homely and in was great to have walks from the doorstep. The Colin Nash restaurant was really tranquil - the food was so good and once again the staff were lovely. They gave a treat to my dog so he didn't feel too left out as I ate my delicious venison steak. They had 4 classes/workshops on while I was there but unfortunately I didn't have time to join. I would definitely come back here -highly recommended!”
