Overall the Temperance Inn is a nice place to stay (access to the accommodation is via the bar or a seperate entrance at the rear). Room was large enough for a couple but not really large enough with a large labrador in tow. Food was good and hot, except for one day when they had staff shortages. Whoever was in the kitchen that morning decided breakfast sandwiches would be luke-warm sausage and bacon on dry bread Staff were helpful when our labrador kicked his water over and decided to drip-dry over the bar floor Would we stay again, yes but without the dog

The bar has a lovely vibe and the staff were all lovely. Nothing was too much bother and our dog Murphy thoroughly enjoyed his first holiday. Breakfast was very good and the wood fire pizzas were delicious. We will definitely be back. There isn't any parking at the hotel but if you time paying for your parking correctly it's only £1.00 per day and it's only 100 yards down the road.

Staying there over 3 days it was great! The staff are so friendly and very accommodating! It was located in a central on Ambleside with access to the waterfalls walk, also short 15 min walk to the pier to be able to go on the walker's ticket on the Windermere Lake Cruises and a short drive (walkable as well) to the White Moss Walks where I went to the Rydall caves. Very Dog-friendly town! The room was perfect for me and my pug cross and I couldn't hear any of the pub noise in the evening! Can't wait to go back!

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Three star Inn/pub ok for a couple of nights
Stayed for four nights. Inn has no parking as situated on main thoroughfare there are two car parks close by but factor this in. Lake Road has an early bird £1 all day which is excellent. Room was small and not a four star more like a three. Maria the waitress was very friendly.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Expensive for what we got.
Parking is a bit of an issue here. We knew there wasn't any parking at the hotel and left the car on Rydal car park, a 10 min walk away but it was very, very busy and we were lucky to find a space. We received a very warm welcome from the Spanish(?) lady who seemed to always be there! She was super cheerful and extremely pleasant...a real asset. We booked a dog room which was ok but small, tired and very basic for what we paid. Small bathroom with shower which needed a good clean around the bottom of the doors. Sealant needed attention too. Our room was up two flights of stairs so absolutely no use to anyone with a disability. We are able bodied and over 60 but it was quite a climb! I wasn't aware of the stairs when I booked. The stair decor and carpet are tired and in need of attention. Breakfast was fine with plenty of choice. Again we were looked after by the lovely Spanish lady who was so cheerful. Breakfast is served in the pub which by its nature is a bit dark. The pub itself is very nice with an interesting bar. Outside needs attention. Butts on the ground around the frontage which should be swept up daily. Looked scruffy. Beer garden at the back which I think was once the car park, again lacked attention. Lots of weeds, dead leaves. Looks scruffy and was down yet more steps. This hotel is part of the Collection group which have numerous establishments in the area. They seem to all serve the same menu. We went to a couple of the other ones which seemed to be much better maintained.
