Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Just again a big thanks to the lovely staff for making us feel so comfortable
We had such a lovely stay here. The hotel is very dog friendly, often we've found places say they are dog friendly but when you get there we feel very restricted. Shillingford bridge was wonderful, the staff made it for us, very friendly and understanding of our dogs needs (one is still young and was a bit overwhelmed by his first trip) but they were lovely and made a huge fuss of both of them. All the other "pawrents" we met had the same high praises. Thanks for a great trip :)

We had a really lovely stay at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel. We had 2 rooms and both were nicely and comfortably furbished. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast and both were very good.

Pets with pyjamas is a little misleading because although the hotel was dog-friendly, I'm sorry but that's all it was. Our dog Buddy was given a sausage for breakfast and nothing else, there wasn't even a bed for him to sleep on, but we wrongly assumed that pets were treated a bit more special than other pet-friendly hotels. also, the hotel itself was a bit run down and needed some attention in various areas.

Hi Andrew, We are so sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience at Shillingford Bridge Hotel and would have expected a little more from a pet-friendly hotel. We only work with properties that really love dogs so we will be sure to follow up to see how we can improve things for the future. The PetsPyjamas Team

I was a bit apprehensive booking given some reviews but we opted for a River View Room which are described as the newly refurbished rooms which is an idea of how this hotel will look like when fully refurbished. The location is ideal with lovely views over the river. Unfortunately on arrival it was quite clear that the Riverview room we were given was anything but refurbished. Although a large room it had a very badly stained carpet, dated and peeling wallpaper and a very tatty sofa badly in need of some TLC (even a throw over it would have given a better impression). We walked in, looked around in dismay and decided there and then we were not staying in that room. Luckily a very helpful lady at reception found us another room (Room 42) which was a refurbished room on the first floor which fully met our expectations and what I believe I had booked and paid for. It was slightly smaller than the original room but was clean, with a nice new bathroom, good shower and a queen size bed which was very comfortable with good linen. A decent TV on the wall, and ironing board and iron and a hair dryer. Good quality heavy curtains blocked out the light and when we stayed it was very quiet. We slept very well. The first floor has a better view of the river as the ground floor view is obscured by the car park in front of the rooms. To be fair all the staff were excellent. We ate outside on our first night as the weather was nice and it was easier to do that with our dog who can be a bit re active. Dogs are welcome in the bar area and this looked like a very pleasant area to eat if you have a dog who will sit quietly and let you enjoy a meal. We enjoyed our meal outside and just wish that the weather had been better so that we could have done the same over the weekend. Breakfast was good, I can recommend the poached eggs.......exactly how they should be cooked and something I have never mastered. Credit to the chef for the poached eggs which were perfect on all 3 mornings that we stayed. Nice bread for toast and a good selection of cereals, fruit and yogurt. Maybe breakfast was let down a little by small things like no teaspoons on one occasion, and empty coffee on others. All readily rectified though. We would stay here again but until the hotel is fully refurbished I would advice checking in advance (and maybe getting in writing) that the room you have booked is one of the refurbished ones. I don't see at this point that it is justifiable to pay the same amount of money for a refurbished room as one that is badly in need of a little TLC. Other than that we had a very enjoyable 3 night stay.

Photos of hotel a little misleading. Like many it is in need of some serious TLC with decor etc. Please don’t expect to have a dip in the swimming pool as shown on website as it is in state of very bad repair. However, bedding was spotlessly clean as was the en-suite. Expected a little more with menu choice for evening meal - but adequate for a one night stay. Breakfast again was adequate with good choice of cereals but hot breakfast was very small portions. Pets Paws had promised dogs a sausage for breakfast but that was not offered. Considering the cost of £145 for one night we felt it was a rather expensive stay and would not re-book.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Expensive. If it had been £50 per night per room it would have been ok . Not clean, No hairdryer, horrible instant coffe and milk and kettle that needed throwing away in one room.. we were so worried about our next booking we went and checked that hote
Booked two rooms. One was not ready. Indifferent front desk lady gave us another room which was far away from our daughter it was bigger but smelt strongly of damp. however it was quiet, bed ok and water hot, plenty of parking and the dogs were happy with river walk. Breakfast was hillarious (should have taken photo) one egg, one piece of bacon and one mushroom and the smallest ramekin. of beans. Cheap jam was nasty as was bread and juice. Just a tired old building in serious need of tlc and staff that need help with details of cleaning and customer service.

It is such a shame as this could be such a fab venue, unfortunately the beginning of our weekend was not good, when we were given a room that was in desperate need of renovating (80’s/90’s style paper), stained and ripped furniture and other issues. This was supposed to be one of their newly renovated rooms. The replacement room was miles better, but smaller, not much space to hang clothes and decoration not quite finished. Lovely view across the Thames, great walks for dogs, rather muddy though at this time of year. Dogs allowed everywhere except restaurant and are given their own sausage breakfast . Some staff absolutely fabulous, unfortunately some were completely the opposite. Would I go again, probably not until all renovations are finished and some staff are trained in what is expected in greeting/speaking with public. Some confusion over an event night, which we then had to pay extra for !!!! But should have been included but was a really good night. Shame there weren’t more people in attendance.

The staff were excellent as was the food. Our room was comfortable with a superb en suite. The hotel itself could do with a visual refurb as some of the carpets are well past their best. However I would think covid has put a damper on many of these types of establishment getting the maintenance they require and would think they are playing catch up. Overall a lovely stay for both us and our dog.
