Large well maintained room, pub and accommodation all dog friendly, local woodland within 5 min walk of the white hart. Not far from various local historic attractions. Close to Swindon but far enough away to feel you're in the countryside

The White Hart is a great place to stay. Our bedroom was very neat and clean, and although there was a live band in the pub in the evening (Saturday) we stayed in the detached accommodation at the back so did not hear anything. The only reason for not giving a 5 stars was that the breakfast was not so good. Otherwise the staff were friendly and the evening meal fine.

After a very long drive from Lands End Cornwall to The White Hart. We were faced with an appalling and very frustrating checking into our room. We pulled up into the car park and from sitting inside the car there was an unbelievable noise coming from the pub. It was Saturday night and there was a live band playing. We were not warned about this when booking through Pets in Pyjamas. We have a very nervous dog, so we found it hard to get him into the pub because of the noise and all the people standing around listening to the band. We tried to check in but could not be heard because of the music. My husband is blind and disabled so asked for a disabled room when booking. We were given the key disabled room and made our way there. We unlocked the door of the room and to our dismay found that somebody else had already been given this room, with their suitcase on the floor, a dog bed in the corner and clothes on the bed. We went back to the bar and tried to explain through the music that somebody else was in the room that we had been given. It then took the staff half an hour to try and find out who was in our room and who gave out the wrong key when the other people booked in. All we wanted to do was feed our dog and have a quick shower before we had dinner. In the end, I was asked to come out into the car park in the pouring rain so they could explain why our room had been given to someone else, they could not do this in the pub as we could not be heard through the loud music. We were told that they had now located who was in our room and they were asked to vacate the room. We were asked to have our meal first as our room had to be cleaned and the bed changed before we could enter. So we had to sit in the pub with a very frightened and nervous dog eating our dinner while this was done. We ordered a beer and lemonade and was told that this was on the house due to the pub's mistake and a way of apology. The White Hart did not even offer in giving a meal on the house while we waited for our room to be re-serviced. It was not a nice experience to walk into a room that was already occupied, and I am sure the people who were in the room did not like other people being given a key to their room and walking in with all their belongings about. In our opinion, this is an appalling way to operate a bed & breakfast business.

Very welcoming staff, room clean and well appointed. Food was only average we had both dinner and breakfast. Good overnight stay let down by the food.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Bit more group training and understanding around medical dietary issues so many good groups use the ‘gf’ identifier. Very surprised this one didn’t
Great little pub/hotel not far off the M4. Lovely to have the dogs who were very well accepted. Lovely decor and friendly staff. Visit disappointed a little a waiting staff at supper had no understanding of my coeliac or gluten free diet, it’s many many a year since someone bought out the ring bound ingredients list and even then had little understanding around it. Otherwise pretty good

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? A lovely dog friendly environment. Our dog Juno felt very at home
The White Hart is a lovely thatched pub with rooms adjacent. The food is excellent and the bar and restaurant staff very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and very clean. We would definitely stay here again

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Room was good value. The food and drink less so.
The modern room is well presented and has good facilities. The shower works well. There is no view as the patio doors look into a wall. The main inn area needs some refurbishment with some of the seating being well worn. Breakfast was fine with a wide range of options albeit you were restricted to selecting a single option i.e. you could not have both cereal and cooked food. However, our dog was pleased one morning as she received a breakfast sausage! We ate in the inn on the first night only. It was not busy. Unfortunately, our first 3 choices for main meals had already sold out and we finally selected meals that neither of us would normally have ordered. The staff were friendly and helpful. Service at breakfast was friendly and efficient.
