The Beckford Inn was a great option for us for a couple of nights escape. This is the first time Lola and Winston (my 2 lil' shih tzus) have stayed in a hotel type situation and 2 days was plenty for them (and me) to be constrained to one bedroom although it was spacious. If you are looking for a base to then go off exploring the local area, which is packed full of beautiful villages and walks then it is perfect! We arrived to a dog bowl in the room with some treats and some doggy shampoo (which we ended up using after a bit of a mucky walk) and for me a small mini bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch! The food for dinner and breakfast was great, and the staff is super helpful and very dog friendly, Lola and Winston even got a sausage at breakfast! This was a super last-minute stay and booking and reasonably priced.

The Beckford Inn was lovely. The room we had was a good size with a comfortable bed although it was very warm and the fan didn't work. The food was fabulous both for evening and breakfast. The staff were very good, friendly and efficient.

We booked via Pets Pyjamas which should have given a clue we were bringing a dog but upon arrival were told the hotel were not aware of this and we had been allocated a non dog friendly room in the annexe and all dog friendly rooms were booked. To give credit, we were allowed to stay but there were no facilities for the dog in the room and no effort made to rectify this. Fortunately we had brought our own dog bed, food and water bowls. The room was very nice with a very comfortable bed and we had a pleasant stay in spite of the absence of a wardrobe or any drawers for clothing and only 4 hangers on a coat rack inside the entrance door. Tea & coffee making facilities consisted of tea bags but only one coffee sachet for a one cup cafetiere so good job only one of us drank coffee. On arrival there was a jar containing 4 small cubes of shortbread which was not replaced and were the only biscuits we were given for a 3 night stay. We ate in the restaurant the first night but found the food average and overpriced so decided to eat out for the remainder of our stay although breakfasts were very good and a sausage for the dog was provided upon request. We booked in advance for a 3 night stay, Friday to Monday, and paid the full rate only to find a leaflet in the welcome pack saying we could extend a 2 night stay to include Sunday night for £50 including breakfast. We were the only guests at the hotel Sunday night and had paid more than £100 over the £50 offer for the privilege! I would describe this hotel as dog tolerant rather than dog friendly.
