We love the Swan Inn. We've been there before and we'll likely go again or at least would recommend it to others. The service is great and very friendly, the rooms are nicely down for the cost and are comfy, the food is great, and they pour great beer. The hikes in the area are outstanding. There's really not much to not like about this place.

The location is very good with walks on the doorstep, and the Mendips countryside is lovely. The accommodation is excellent. We were in the adjoining ground floor block with easy access to the outside which is very useful if you have a dog. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. On the downside, the service was a bit slow during lunch and supper. However, it was Easter weekend and the pub was very busy. I think hospitality businesses are finding this aspect difficult due to Covid.

Upon arrival, despite that I had completed the online check in, I had to wait 15 mins to be checked in and showed to the room. Room was lovely in the main house. At 5pm we went down for food, after 30 mins we hadn’t been asked for our order for drinks or food so we went to the bar to be served. Another wait whilst they were stacking the glass cleaner, going out the back etc. The food came before the drinks, I had to go to the bar after a further 25 mins to ask for the drinks to be made. After dinner we let the dogs out for a toilet break and I saw the other rooms outside which looked like what I had booked. I went back in to ask if the rooms were all booked out and there had been a mistake. No mistake we just had the wrong room. We transferred all of our unpacked stuff into the new room and the dogs beds etc. Sorted. Unfortunately the saga continued the next morning when I was trying to find some sugar for my coffee at breakfast. Again, stood waiting at the bar with no one around. I honestly have no idea where the staff go as no one seemed to be around when you needed them. I say need, they were basic asks, order drinks & food, check in & sugar for breakfast coffee. I have to say I am very surprised that no one offered to knock a drink off the bill or something after the wait to order as the staff did apologise as they had seen us waiting. Mistakes happen and I think we just got unlucky but it still marred the entire experience. Great place, just needs more or better qualified staff

The Swan Inn has always been very popular for us, and as you can see from the reviews on our website, our customers are generally very happy with the hotel. We are therefore, sorry to hear this wasn't quite the case on this occasion. Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Would be helpful if there was a dog bowl and towel for the dog in the room.
We enjoyed a lovely stay. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. I think the staff were the stand out for us - everyone we dealt with was welcoming and went out of their way to be helpful. The food was good - plenty of veggie options.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I would highly recommend this accommodation, & would gladly visit again.
We cannot fault anything about The Swan. The staff were warm & friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. The service was first class, a good varied menu with excellent food provided. Our room was clean & spacious. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
