On a very stormy day/night, the Swan was a cosy and welcoming bolthole which made us and our Beagle feel extremely welcome. The room was very comfortable for all three of us, and the public areas designated for dogs were really well-appointed. The staff made a big fuss of our dog too. The food (dinner and breakfast) was well-presented and delicious. Overall a lovely stay.

Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Food was delicious and promptly served both morning and evening. Staff a pleasure to speak to. Hotel immaculately clean, especially with allowing dog friends. Views are to die for & great walking opportunities with the famous gingerbread shop just around the corner! Would absolutely stay again!

We stayed one night on a last minute booking. The huge refurb that's been done might not be to everybody's taste but it's nice enough. They are SUPER dog friendly all over the hotel which is great. However, the food was expensive, not good at all and very generic (avoid the moules at all costs), cooked breakfast was also decidedly average and service all a bit chaotic with empty trays etc Have to say the staff were lovely but it was all a bit hopeless with our booking. We were assured on checking in our room had a great view (it was of the car park!), I was asked to pay for the room on arrival until they agreed it had been paid for through PP. I was then asked again on departure. Ended up showing them the money had gone from my account on internet banking on my phone - they couldn't print the bill to show me, nor could they take it off the bill on the computer, so added it up on a calculator for me to pay separately. Apologies to those waiting behind me! Rooms are newly done so lovely - although our desk and tea service etc was thick with dust. All in all, not at all what I was hoping for from a longstanding Lake's legend.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? This is our second visit to an Inn Collection hotel with our dog. They are not really a dog welcoming hotel Group more a dog tolerating one.
The Swan is part of the Inn Collection hotels. Whilst they allow dogs they are not specifically dog welcoming. The room we were allocated was a very long way from any outside exits up numerous stair cases and through multiple fire doors all of which are challenging with a dog on a lead and luggage. The room was ok albeit rather small and we had to move furniture to be able to put the dog bed on the floor. There were no dog things in the room - no water bowl or complementary treats. The en suite was very basic and clinical - nothing fancy at all more like a hostel bathroom than a hotel. Having said all of that the staff were lovely and the public spaces clearly recently renovated. Dinner was good. Breakfast ok.

Although there was a delay in our room being ready it was rectified by the politeness of the staff. Beautiful location, I was particularly impressed by the quality of the food especially seeing how busy they were. There were only 2 real ales on but both were of the highest standard. Both our dogs enjoyed themselves, although were shattered by the time we left.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The Swan is about to be refurbished and will open again in around March 2022 so it might be worth another visit to see the changes!
When we arrived we were made most welcome, the room was plenty big enough for us and the two dogs, it was their first holiday and took everything in their stride. They joined us in the bar area for our meals and were made a fuss of by everyone, the room was a little way off from the main building but that was to be expected, didnā€™t wish to disturb any other customers, all in all it was a lovely break away with good accommodation would recommend a stay here to take your dogs.

Loved the Lake district. The hotel was fairly mediocre for the money. There is also a chronic staff shortage in the area and it was noticeable. Best thing? Dog friendly and nice breakfast. Worst thing? The shower ugh... almost a dribble of water. My wife said its no better or worse than a stay at a travel lodge. Make of that what you will.
