It was difficult to drop off baggage snd the dog as the hotel is situated in a busy area of Ambleside. Hotel itself is nice and food is excellent. However, it was obvious like the rest of the lake district needs more staff. The staff were excellent but were stretched.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? There was no parking at the hotel and we weren’t warned about this before we arrived. We ended up paying for 3 days in a public car park quite a walk from the Inn. This was difficult with the dog and carrying luggage.
The room was adequate but involved a lot of stairs. Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was good, although one morning they forgot my toast when I ordered poached eggs on toast!

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Parking is away from the Hotel, and there is no lift for disabled people that we could see.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Ambleside Inn. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The food menu is good, with a nice variety to choose from. Just a couple of things to note, take your dogs own beds and own bowls! The other thing I need to mention is to the Ambleside Inn. On Saturday evening one of your staff was dismissed, she got very very drunk and was telling any guests she came across. She also was swearing on the top of her voice. Some of the guests remarked on how it was getting very nasty and decided to eat elsewhere. I’m afraid this incident wasn’t sorted out quickly and left us and fellow guests uncomfortable!

After traveling for over 6hours for our visit to Ambleside. We were looking forward to relaxing at the Ambleside inn. We arrived at 8:50pm upon check in we asked if there was any possibility of any food as we had travelled so far and such a long time. They said their kitchen was closed and couldn't offer anything, so we had to go to Tesco for something to eat. We took our dog with us for the trip, all dog friendly rooms are on the 2nd floor. Upon entering the room it felt very small, not as the images portray. They had left a bag of dog biscuits on the bed but surprisingly no water bowl or mat for the dog to sleep on. No bottles of water for the humans either. Being the top floor the room was very warm and stuffy, the windows did not open very much. We were disappointed as had been informed by petspyjamas that the Ambleside inn had been refurbished, this was definitely not the case for our room. We feel the basic elements of a good inn/b&b are; Comfy bed Good shower facilities Good breakfast. The bed was a small double and very springy not that comfortable nights sleep and very stuffy. The bathroom had most definitely not been recently refurbished. The shower cubicle was small and the water pressure was a dribble. It leaked and in fact a maid knocked on the door with a towel to put by the shower cubicle as apparently it was leaking to the room below. The sink seemed blocked and took ages to drain the water. Breakfast was from 7:30-9:30 even on weekends. We went down at 9am on a Saturday morning, it was a self serve buffet. The hot food was basically empty with a few dried up bits of scrambled egg and bacon. I asked if there was anymore fresh food coming out and was told "shortly as everyone has come down at the same time." not surprising as it was the weekend. Generally breakfast is served until 10:00am at weekends in most b&b's/ inns we've stayed in. The gentleman with the beard was very rude and not friendly. So we grabbed a dry croissant and tea and sat and waited for some more food to come out. It was 9:15 by the time fresh food came out. We went back up to get some hot items. The bacon came out barely cooked, I asked if they had any crispy bacon and the lady said that's the best its going to be as breakfast is stopping. I was shocked by that response as it wasn't even 9:30. I took a few items and as I did so all the staff came out from the back about to get their own breakfast from the buffet. I was surprised as guests were still getting their food and service hadn't finished. Not against staff having food but during service did not look professional. We were looking forward to a hearty Cumbrian breakfast but it was disappointing. So much so we decided not to eat there the next 2 mornings and found a far better breakfast spot the copper pot, we highly recommend. We were there for 3 nights, not once did the maid come to refresh our room. However on the morning of our check out at 7:45am we were woken up as the door opened and a maid appeared. Check out was at 10:30am no apology and no reason why the maid should have come into our room at that time. When we did finally check out we were waiting to speak to them about our stay, a lady walked by reception and said leave the key on the counter. We said we're checking out, she said yeah it's fine just leave it on the counter and walked off before we could even tell them about our stay. Overall we were extremely disappointed with our stay at the Ambleside Inn. We don't think it is good value for money or great service. The staff don't seem to care. We certainly won't be recommending it to anyone we know with or without dogs.

Highly recommended, for you and your dogs. The hotel was very clean considering dogs can stay, the staff were fantastically friendly to both people and dogs, and we can't speak highly enough of the establishment. The dogs sulked when we came home, fantastic place for a great break.
