When Cookie and I arrived parking was not made clear until we checked In with reception. We traveled almost three hours in the car and once we arrived there were no marked areas for Cookie to use the restroom. The hotel was lovely and the food and bar area Cookie and I had dinner and breakfast at were very nice. Cookie is a 13 year old pekipoo and our room was on the 2nd floor up a very narrow staircase down a narrow hallway. Carrying her and our bags was a task. I would have loved to have been on something on the ground floor to make it easier to take her out since we were hunting for any bit of grass or weeds. Other than those few things the hotel was very nice.

Used the Swan as a stop-off to and from Yorkshire. It was ideally placed and in a very nice little town. First room was No 49 which was nice as was No 62 where I stayed the second time even though I specifically asked for, and thought that I had booked 49 again which was disappointing (I actually sat in the reception and booked it face to face). However, the bathroom in 62 had a faint smell of sewers! Food was good and I was able to have breakfast with my dog in the bar although it was a bit of a trek to and from the buffet so I left her in my room on the second occasion. Overall, a very pet friendly hotel where I would stay again.

Booked for myself, daughter and dog. We were a little disappointed with the room. We were expecting it to be a little larger. Also there was a stale smell in the room, it seemed a little dated. The bathroom was nice. We were expecting a doggy welcome pack (as we booked through Pets Pyjamas) however it never materialized even though we contacted reception about it. They assured me that it would be sorted! Had a lovely meal in the bar the first night and the lady working in the bar was really good and couldn't do enough for us. Buffet breakfast was ok but restricted if you have dietary requirements (I am vegan) Not a lot of options for a cooked breakfast. We arrived back late one night, after being out the whole day (10.30pm) to find our bedroom door left open (on the latch) and only the bedroom cleaned. The bathroom wasn't cleaned or bin emptied and the cleaner had her multi surface cleaner in the bathroom. We had also booked a cream tea for two on arrival expressing that one would need to be vegan. There were no options for a vegan cream tea however the staff allowed me to have a vegan pudding off the menu which was very nice. So I feel our stay was a bit mixed, that is why I have given 3 stars.
