We enjoyed our stay at the Golden Fleece Hotel N Yorks. The room was cosy and modernised with a comfortable bed and plenty of refreshments and fresh milk available. Staff were efficient and friendly and best of all the food served was tasty and excellent quality.

A lovely break, comfortable room but on third floor. Not ideal with a dog when they have courtyard rooms which would have been better and which I would have booked had I have known. However, great location and great food.

Mews room was small - but well equipped. Ok for a smaller dog! Fantastic food and deal via PetsPyjamas

The staff here are so welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. We had a lovely decorated and furnished room with a really good size bathroom and an excellent coffee machine. The dog goodies in our room were much appreciated by our pouch. The food both for dinner and breakfast was really good making it quite easy to put on a few lbs! (the nice cakes with an afternoon coffee don't help either) Our dog was with us for breakfast and dinner, the only room he couldn't go in was the restaurant, which is fair enough, however, it was no issue as the other public spaces were absolutely fine and the evening menu was the same as the restaurant. The location is great with a sizeable car park at the rear. We can definitely say this is a very dog-friendly hotel, with excellent staff and really good food. We can certainly recommend this hotel and we will be staying again sometime in the near future.

Had a lovely weekend break with 2 people and 1 dog. The staff were extremely welcoming and were able to point out the excellent dog walking opportunities that are just at the back of the hotel. Clover the dog got to join us for meals in the lovely snug front rooms (dogs not allowed in the main restaurant but we much prefered the dog-friendly part) and was very pleased with her sausage breakfasts! We were given a room on the top floor so there were lots of stairs for her to negotiate. She had no problem but little or old legs might find it a challenge. Our room overlooked the market place which had a busy night life and stalls setting up very early on Saturday and Monday mornings, something to think about if noise worries you. We had a fabulous time and will definitely come again the next time we come to Thirsk.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? A goody bag for 2 dogs, or at least including 2 chews, would be great!
We stayed at this lovely hotel earlier in the year and were so impressed that we came back. This time, the hotel was fully booked and service was stretched to the limit. We had requested the same room, just at the top of the stairs and very handy for the dogs and were told that we could have it. However, on arriving, we found ourselves on the top floor at the furthest point from the main door! A delightful room, but several flights of stairs to negotiate. We went for our first evening meal, a table booked in the front lounge, with the dogs, and no one came. Eventually, I went through to the bar and requested that someone could come and serve us. This happened again at breakfast, this time a request from reception was needed. Second evening, our booked table hadn't been recorded so staff were unaware we required a meal. Over the period of our visit, several items on the menu were unavailable: steak; plaice; chicken and ham pie; marmalade. Happily, the steak reappeared before we left! We shall certainly return, but, hopefully, not when they are so busy. This is a lovely hotel and the friendly staff were very apologetic. We shall return

We stayed for 3 nights and everyone, including our dog, received a warm welcome and excellent customer service throughout. All the staff who looked after us were fabulous. This is our second visit and we shall definitely be coming back. Great location and such a beautiful area to visit.

We found the hotel fairly dog friendly. Just the main restaurant out of bounds. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, although a couple of small niggles, which due to lack of maintenance staff was unable to be put right. We would stay again, but would check that no wedding parties were booked in, as part of hotel was closed off to residents.
