Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Very helpful, friendly staff. Food was excellent too and always a few extra sausages for Bella!

Air con not working, reported but not fixed by end of week. Tele in room did not even have Freeview channels. Breakfast was slow, up to hour wait, no buffet and restricted on what you could choose from inclusive price. Spa Hotel but only pool included in the price. 50th Wedding Anniversary, just a note in room at beginning of week. Ate evening meal elsewhere after first night took 1 1/2 hours just for mains, and expensive.

We were looking forward to relaxation and luxury staying at the Swan Inn, my husband, myself, 14 year old son and Vizsla (Stanley). On arrival the location is nice, staff friendly (but very stretched and service very slow in the restaurant), however the surprises were: Our ‘fabulous’ room had a view of a fence and was too small for our dog’s bed to fit in. For my 14 year old son was a rickety, slat camp bed. We complained to reception first, they added a 2nd mattress but this made the room feel even smaller, so we enquired about a room for our son. Reception wanted to charge us over £800 for a 2nd room for him - however when Pet Pyjamas representative spoke to the Manager they gave my son his own room complimentary room - which was good (Thanks to Pets Pyjamas ). Otherwise it’s the first time we’ve ever stayed at a ‘Hotel & Spa’ where residents of the hotel have to pay (£20 each) each time if the want to use the spa (and we’ve stayed at some very good hotels before). Then early Friday evening we came home from a long walk to relax only to hear very load music in our room due to a DJ and hen party evening at the spa (very loud and only other side of our fence), this apparently takes place once a month on a Friday - no apology or warning given for noise by reception this time, - just not what you’d expect from how this hotel sells itself. So sorry but a ‘Luke warm’ review from us.

Dear Nicola The Swan Hotel & Spa at Newby Bridge has always been very popular for us, and as you can see from the reviews on our website, our customers are generally very happy with the hotel. We are therefore sorry to hear this wasn't quite the case on this occasion. We work very closely with all our hotels so we will pass your comments onto the management team there, and continue to keep an eye on things to ensure everything is running smoothly. So thank you for bringing this to our attention, we really appreciate it.  Best wishes, Charlie

Good points: Rooms were big, massage treatment was one of the best I’ve had; nice areas to sit and read/drink/relax; train to Lakeside 5min walk; Woody enjoyed his breakfast sausage; dog bowls, towels and blanket in the room were a great touch (even though we had to ask for the towel and blanket) Not so good points: our package included a G&T on arrival which we didn’t receive; our air con wasn’t working so we were given a fan; we were limited to the bar food menu with a dog - they didn’t allow us to order from the restaurant menu and sit in the dog friendly bar area which was a shame when staying more than one night; had to pay extra to visit the adult only pool/spa area - which is crazy considering how much we’d paid for a 2 nights package.

The Swan is situated in a Picturesque location at the south of Lake Windermere. Our room was clean comfortable and the additional accessories provided in the room for our small dog were a nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful and food at the Inn/Brasserie was great. We would definitely visit again !

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Good value for money, however we had a really good deal through Pets Pyjamas. We agreed it wasn’t worth paying full price. It was just small things like no jams with toast at breakfast, only allowed English breakfast tea or filter coffee. Personally we wo
We spent three nights in the love nest. A beautiful room, and fantastic base for a few days in the Lake District with the dog! Really convenient with space right outside to let him out, and an outdoor tap. Lovely welcome pack which included a bowl, blanket, towel, treat and poo bags. Despite being separate from the main hotel, our beds were made each day, fresh towels etc which was lovely and unexpected. The food was delicious, we enjoyed breakfast (in the restaurant & room service), and two dinners. The restaurant service was fantastic. We were disappointed with one element of our stay. We weren’t able to use the fires for most of our trip. Staying in January with the dog, this really attracted us to book the love nest. Day 1 we arrived there was no kindling. Rang up, and the porter came with some fire lighters (kindling delivery was coming in the morning) - sadly the fire lighters wouldn’t get it going, but no problem. The saga continued for the next few days. Offered to buy our own on day 2 and were told not to, but by the evening of day 3 we ended up driving to the supermarket and buying our own. Mentioned at checkout and got an apology, but we’re left feeling a little bit underwhelmed. We understand the situation with covid etc (they didn’t get their deliveries). If we’d have just been there wouldn’t be any for the duration of our trip at the start, this wouldn’t have been an issue at all and we would have got our own. It was such a small thing to fix. The log burner and outdoor fire were reasons we chose the love nest over other rooms, so this did end up being quite a disappointment for us. The rest of the trip was lovely though and definitely dog friendly.

Couldn’t have loved this stay more. The staff are amazing. The place is so beautiful and relaxing. I loved sitting next to the open fire with my dog and drinking a lovely cocktail and reading a book. Can’t wait to come back again
