Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The food and restaurant service were very good
A fairly 'cold' but polite welcome, showed no interest in the dogs whatsoever. Very standard room, dog bed and bowls provided with direct access to the outside, but to get to the garden you had to walk past other residents windows. Workmen were drilling in the room next door which disturbed us and the dogs. There was no dog poo bin within the hotel grounds. I would suggest that the hotel 'allows dogs' as to being 'dog friendly'.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Overall poor for the price I paid.
I had booked this hotel as a 30th birthday gift for me, my partner and our dog. It was advertised as a luxury stay with our dog but it certainly wasn't that. I had saved up for several months in order to pay almost Ā£400 for 1 nights stay, dinner and breakfast. Firstly, the bathroom in our room stank of drainage. When I asked someone to come from reception to see if there was anything they could do they said they could not smell the drains but out drain I blocker down them. The smell was so bad that we had to keep the bathroom door shut and using the bathroom was not pleasant. Also for a hotel that advertises as "dog friendly" we certainly didn't feel that way. We understood that we were unable to use certain areas of the hotel with our dog but did not realise this was limited to a reception area only. There was no music or candles on the table like the other part of the hotel. This was the same place we ate dinner where we were next to a door where staff members had to use to get in and out to serve drinks at the spa. The table cloth wasn't changed from the previous night when we went down for breakfast and as we were in reception we had the pleasure of listening to building works happening on the next room which made our dog unsettled. I felt for the money that we paid we were treated differently for having a dog with us and our experience was lesser. The room was tired and some staff seemed to lack care. Although the waiting on staff were very good. The food was mediocre and for the price I wouldn't stay here again. Made a very special birthday a real let down.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Many thanks to Pets Pajamas for recommending this wonderfull hotel
This has to be one of our best holidays to date. The hotel is first class with excellent food and friendly staff. The location, just a short walk from the village of Grasmere could not have been better. Our room had a sliding patio door with a small outside area with views to die for. Would definitely go back again.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? I may have been the only dog staying last week, so I think I got preferential treatment
We had a beautiful room on the lower floor, with a small patio area looking out onto the flowing river with spectacular viewā€™s to the hillside. A special bag of dog treats had been left in the room for my arrival, which I enjoyed thoroughly. My human guestā€™s found the accommodation to be very comfortable. We had a separate area for breakfast and dining away from other guests so I could stay with my owners. Iā€™m very well trained on mixing with humans so I would have liked to have met more people within the hotel, but I understand that some people donā€™t always like us four legged creatures close by when eating. I was made to feel very welcome by the staff and had lots of their attention when greeting me. My owners said the food was first class.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Not dog friendly at all felt like a second class citizen and the state of the room confirmed that - told where couldnā€™t go and the ā€˜gardenā€™ room was really just an extension of reception not somewhere to dine in the evening - so bad we left and no apologies made except the bill for two sandwiches and two drinks for Ā£40 after driving for two hours add to that Ā£50 fuel after getting home upset the most expensive sandwiches ever and no apologies to add to our trauma - no dog poo bins in the gardens or car park so we took that home too
Bed mattress protectors stained shower curtain the same was dark brown with orange bleach stains on it - dirty tiles and grouting in shower scuff marks on walls and doors door scuffs painted over with different shade of grey than rest of door - says double mattress or king was two singles pushed together - was supposed to be a birthday surprise instead a shock when you look at their adverts and reviews - room is also an assisted room so obviously ok for disabled and dogs that standard by management

We stayed as a group in the Rothay Garden and had two dogs with us. The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and made our stay enjoyable. The dog friendly rooms go out to a riverside area and dog treats and a bowl were provided. We are in the lounge where a table was set up for us so we could bring our dogs with us.

When we found out we could take our pet Dachshund to this hotel we were delighted. We had walked past the hotel at a previous visit to Grasmere in 2019 and thought it looked lovely. We were not disappointed - the room was lovely with a little outdoor seating area and stream running by. The hotel grounds were perfect and the food was lovely. We were not able to take the dog in the restaurant but the hotel put a private table by the door to the garden and we had breakfast and evening meal there with our little dog by our side. Perfect.
