“I booked a two night stay at The Vicarage over the New Year holiday on the 14th of December 2024, and paid a deposit the same day. I was given a full cost and paid the balance for the stay, to Pets Pyjamas (not The Vicarage) on December 16th. I received what appeared to be confirmation of the booking the same day. When my husband and I arrived at 3pm on New Year's Eve to check in, we were told that The Vicarage had no trace of a booking for us. It seemed possible that we would have nowhere to stay with our dog, 90 miles from home, on New Year's Eve. By sheer chance, The Vicarage had had a cancellation that morning, and so we were able to use their last free room for the two nights. We spoke to the manager of The Vicarage the following day. He told us that further investigation revealed that the hotel had indeed received a request from Pets Pyjamas for our booking but had turned it down because their rooms were already fully booked for the New Year holiday. He also said that he had decided to stop taking bookings from Pets Pyjamas, because he had had great difficulty in getting them to pass on payments they had received for bookings to his business. We were told nothing of this. Instead, Pets Pyjamas sent us a false confirmation and bombarded us with further marketing emails, which I have now attempted to unsubscribe from. I feel very sorry for the manager at The Vicarage, who looked after us well, and I sincerely hope he receives all the payments due to him from Pets Pyjamas as soon as possible. We will not be using your agency again, and I would not recommend your services to anyone.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Based on the food and eating area would go again. Not to stay in a similar room though.

“Food really good. Good quality breakfast. Pub very nice and dog friendly. Room a little tired and wonder if there are better rooms that you can't take dogs to. Bath exceptionally slippy and nothing to hold on to when getting out of shower, scared me. Good to have mats for dogs.”

“First time booking with Pets pyjamas and won't be our last. Lovely hotel, close to the motorway which makes it ideal for a stop over. Room comfortable staff friendly, food excellent, staff genuinely like dogs and everything needed was provided I.e.dishes blanket, treats, even a sausage for breakfast. We would definetely stay again.”

“The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The menu was very limited and the food was not cooked properly. Christmas Lunch was supplied wrongly despite pre-ordering”

“We couldn't have asked for more. We moved seemlessly from Reception to our easily accessible ground floor bedroom. Dinner in the dining area was no problem either so HRH could join us with no issues.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? There is also a nice walk along the river on a nature trail to exercise the dogs.

“Enjoyed a brilliant stay here, our dogs were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, lovely friendly staff and the food in the Restaurant was excellent.”
