Did you feel your stay was good value for money? Yes
The staff went beyond expectations to make us feel welcome. Very dog friendly with good food and genuinely warm atmosphere. The only drawback was the night time floor boards from the room above constantly creaking (probably down to the very windy weather over New Year). Would definately return at some future date but take an upstairs bedroom.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Even a doggy paw wash area outside and a lovely walk from the grounds to a church and playing field
We have just celebrated our wedding anniversary at the hotel and could not have picked a better hotel. It is very dog friendly with plenty of comfy dog beds in the public spaces.. Sophie on reception took good care of us when we arrived & kindly offered us an upgrade, and although it was very spacious and had great outdoor space with a zacuzzi, it was in an outbuilding, so we asked for a room in the main house, as we wanted to be in the main house.. as it was beautifully decorated for Christmas and we wanted to be able to just walk down the main stairs to breakfast or dinner without putting our coats on.. She put us in Room 1.. a lovely room with great views and a huge bathroom.. we were very happy with our room. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.. we had breakfast in the conservatory with our dog, and he had a special doggy breakfast.. & had afternoon tea in one of the beautiful lounges, again with our dog.. the afternoon tea was delicious.. as were the evening meals in the conservatory and in the Garden Grill. We enjoyed walking in the grounds and used the agility area.. The spa and pool looked wonderful but we were too busy eating, relaxing and doggy walking to use them. We will most certainly be returning..

We chose this hotel as a stopover between our house and Devon, based on Pets’ Pyjamas’ reviews. Our whole experience was fabulous. We were given an external room with a door which opened straight onto the grounds- with the space to run, this meant we could let out Woozle to race around the grounds on her own. There is even a fenced “dog agility” area near our room, which people used as a safe run around place, or like us, tried to train Woozle to do the course – and have lots of fun. Our room had a lovely dog bed with high sides all set up for us, with a box gift including treats and tennis ball - evidently every dog gets a different colour ball. The whole hotel and staff are incredibly dog -friendly – providing dog beds for every pet in the conservatory dining room, a doggy menu, water bowls, a dog washing station outside with warm water hose and lots of towels, as well as a number of dog-focused bins strategically placed around the grounds. Perhaps best of all, and through a tunnel under the main road, lies a wonderful overgrown secret garden alongside the river- a fabulous place for sniffing and chasing squirrel. Even if you don’t have a pet, the hotel’s new owners are clearly investing heavily to bring back the grounds and house. There is a wonderful new spa, with indoor and outdoo swimming pools, hot tubs and lots of treatment rooms. There are really lovely outdoor dining options, and around there are also really interesting sculptural art installations in the grounds. We thought the food and drinks choices were great, and what a decision for the hotel to provide the generous breakfast to all guests – meaning no quibbling over whether breakfast is included which usually happens in hotels. We loved our stay, our dog Woozle loved meeting the other dogs, and were also told that Pets Pyjamas is often the reason pet owners choose to visit – so well done!

This hotel is 100% dog friendly, from check in until check out we and our dog were welcomed. Fantastic grounds to walk in and suggested walks provided with detailed history. Dog beds provided at meal times. All meals were excellent as was the service provided. We really hope to return.
