“Booked months in advance for a superior double and x2 standard doubles rooms for mine and my wife’s birthday celebrations but on arrival only had x2 standard doubles and a twin room which was not a good start!!! Paid for dinner, bed and breakfast and i don’t want to be cruel but the food particularly on the first night was awful!!!! Worst dining experience I’ve ever had with uncooked pizza, flat drinks, apple crumble like sand ( don’t ask) I could go on. We have stayed at Hunters a few times and loved it hence the 4 hour drive being worth it but never again !!!! Be aware it’s the first time we have had rooms on the first floor and the sleep was atrocious as sound from above room was horrendous ( my wife wanted to leave after first day but seeing that we’d paid for 3 rooms for 2 nights i convinced her to stay)”

“The hotel is nestled in the Heddon Valley, we had a lovely stay with our dog Ruby. Staff were friendly and our evening meal was delicious. We would highly recommend a visit.”

“The location could not be better. great walks with superb views. Truly outstanding. The hotel however was a bit of a let down. Much promised on its website but not much delivered. The rooms were tired and outdated but the bed was comfy. The food was ok, but no more than that. The staff, although jolly and smilling had little or no training in how to run a hotel bar and restaurant. Not their fault. Despite cooked breakfast being advertised there were none, a "continental" breakfast was the only offering, which was cereal, toast, some fruit, ham and cheese. That all said, it was very dog friendly.”

“We went to Pet's Pyjamas for a last minute get away to which we could also bring Sprocket along and they didn't disapoint when the came up with Hunter's Inn. Hidden away in the Hedon Valley with a lovely 1 mile walk to the sea from their garden. Lot's of other dogs stayig with their owners. Rooms were comftable and clean and the staff were friendly &and welcoming. we were only there for one night but we will be going back before to long.”

“This should be a real destination hotel, tucked away in a remote valley in North Devon, but sadly it was a dissapointing stay. The room was good and clean and the staff were super helpful and welcoming, so no problems there. The problem is that the management is totally shambolic. The systems were down the whole weekend, so we weren't checked in and they didn't have us down for check out either. Food items had run out and they only had 1 beer left on tap, it just felt totally chaotic and that everything was being run on a shoestring. That extended to the food which was pretty low quality - one of the worst, thin, grey, burgers I've had in a long time, an old school "pot pie" of mush in a dish with a puff lid on (I thought they had died out some years ago!). The beans with the full english had a thick skin on and the bacon could have resoled my shoes, as they had been left out under the heatlamps too long. The staff were putting on a brace face and trying their hardest but even they admited it was a mess. I feel for them as they were doing their best, working really hard to serve the bar, wait tables and remaining professional. Such a shame as it's a beautiful location and great for walking with your dog.”

“We had a fantastic stay a the Hunter's Inn. The hotel is located in a really tranquil spot. We loved our room and the food was amazing. The staff were all really helpful and made us feel very welcome. We'd definitely stay again :)”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Noisy room but the staff immediately happy to find us another room for our second night. Friendly staff but they forgot part of our drinks order. Kitchen ran out of brown bread on the first night of our stay and there was none for the second day. White bread was available.

“Beautiful building, stunning setting with a regal resident peacock. Food was lovely, restaurant service slow on the second night. Had to change rooms for the second night as we had a compressor humming very loudly which kept us awake. The second room was quiet and very nice. Thank you.”

“The Hunters Inn is just such an amazing peaceful place to stay the rooms are lovely the food is so good staff are friendly but not over the top which I like it’s a very relaxing feel and so so dog friendly It’s a hidden gem I just loved it”
