Did you feel your stay was good value for money? No
Great place geographically but let down by being in deperate need of updating. The bar looked more like an old folks' home than a bar. Unfortunately in my two days two of the staff were huffy and rude (I really didn't deserve it either time) and many could do with some simple training. Otherwise the bedroom was clean and fitted the bill (cleaners were doing their jobs well), although my room was above the kids' play room so I was subjected to kds bashing piano keys throughout the day like some kind of mid torture game. Next time Nellie and I will be booking the Bankes Arms down the lane - helpful, nice food and pooch-friendly.

Very dogfriendly, and staff were very helpful, always smiling and welcoming. Our room was very dated, and the bathroom was awful, mould in tiles, plug would not work in bath, and water pressure very poor. Some of tiles were cracked, just not worth the money charged. A wonderful location, which is why we chose Knoll House, had stayed once before but our room was far superior and updated.

Itā€™s the kind of place where you can easily imagine yourself sipping a gin and tonic, immersed in a classic murder mystery novel where one could easily be set. The hotel is enveloped by majestic Monterey Pines that are beautifully silouted as the sun sets, with woods to wander through behind the hotel and a beautiful sandy beach across the road perfect for long, contemplative walks. Our dog loved it too, as she was welcomed everywhere. The staff were super helpful, the rooms clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the overall ambiance was wonderfully cozy and inviting. A perfect escape for those looking to unwind in style. The food was top-notch too. Can't wait to return!

Good for dogs , heathland adjoining to run free ,nearby Knoll beach is dogs on leads only in high season , understandable, but Shell Beach down by the ferry crossing is much bigger and quieter .Hotel Doggy Dining area is ā€œFirst come first serveā€ but a table wasnā€™t a problem in mid August and our young Cockapoo always enjoys her titbits and allows us a worry free breakfast . Hotel not quite so good for Humans , mix up with room quickly addressed but pillows and mattress protector were all dirty and stained ,reception alerted housekeeping and this was promptly changed , just such a pity that it needs a guest to point out something so basic and unnecessary .No Guest should ever be expected to sleep on others bodily fluids , even if covered over with crisp white bedding ! ā˜¹ļø We only ate dinner one evening , one meal was ok but the other was very tough and fatty lamb ,in my opinion inedible - but our dog enjoyed it ! Good choice of desserts . Hotel is tired , staff friendly and helpful , area and view lovely . One other thing that needs improvement is the poor lighting for that all important last late night walk ! Important to clean up after your pet but difficult to see unless armed with a torch

Love the traditional charm of this unspolit Hotel. In magnificent setting with great facilities. Interior space pristine. Room was great with fabulous views over the Bay. It boasted a beautiful modern bathroom. Certainly a dog loving Hotel with personable and dog friendly staff. Big thanks to Mary & Lee on Reception who were so very helpful. Like its amazing surroundings lets hope this Hotel never changes (?)

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel certainly was dog friendly. The only slight drawback was a very limited menus for vegetarians and if you forget to opt in you wonā€™t get your room cleaned.
The hotel is superbly situated for exploring the Heritage coast and Studland Bay in particular.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? The hotel needs a complete makeover.
The location is stunning and the hotel is a short walk from the glorious beaches of Studland which are dog friendly. The hotel was very disappointing. It needs completely updating and modernising. Our bedroom was damp and there was mould in the bathroom. The bedding was cheap and very uncomfortable. Breakfast was not great. No bread rolls and a limited choice of healthy options. You canā€™t take your dog in the restaurant and so we left ours in the bedroom. I would not rush back which is a shame as the area is lovely.
