We loved our break at Ballathie. Two spaniels and I stayed in the Riverside block, with rooms that open right out onto the magnificent River Tay, with 900 acres to roam across. But we were warmly welcomed in the main hotel, with the choice of dining with the dogs but also relaxing in the bar next to a roaring fire and there were gravy bones on hand. Food was exceptional, with a five-course menu meticulously prepared and every dish I tried was delicious. From Perthshire lamb with its fennel kimchi to the pastrami cured salmon right through to salted caramel fondant or banana mousse. And the team at Ballathie were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and they always greeted you with a warm hello. Ballathie: put the dog into dog-friendly.

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? No I think I have covered everything.
I had requested a dog friendly room in the hotel, but the one allocated was quite impractical. It was a long way from the main part of the hotel and on the first floor and not on ground level as I had imagined. Apparently the only dog friendly rooms in the hotel building are on the upper floor. However, the more appropriate rooms for dogs are in the Riverside building and I was lucky enough to be able to move to one of these with immediate access to the gardens. The receptionist could not have been more helpful and the new room was ready for me by 9am the next morning. I seemed to be the only guest who wanted to dine with my dog and this was not a problem. A table was set for me each morning for breakfast and in the evening for dinner. Service was excellent as was the cuisine. I would highly recommend a visit or stay at Ballathie with or without your pet. I shall be returning at some point again this year.

Beautiful hotel in the countryside Where the staff excel in making you and your 4 legged friends welcome. We have stayed there several times with our greyhounds and always look forward to going back

We stayed at the Ballathie Country House Hotel with our dog in one of the Riverside Suites. We were all made to feel incredibly welcome, the Riverside rooms are ideal for dog owners, with direct access to plenty of open space for a well behaved pooch to roam! We were able to eat with our dog in tow, everyone made sure we had a comfortable space for him to sit and some water to drink. Definitely worth a stay, we wish we’d been there a little longer.

Ballathie House is set in lovely grounds with an amazing approach to the house through the beautiful avenue of trees. The house itself is very picturesque and welcoming. The dinner we had was exceptional and the service was very good. On the downside, it was promoted as a dog friendly hotel. Whilst dogs are welcome, we were put on a table in the main corridor under the stairs which was a little dark. Whilst i appreciate not everyone likes dogs, i think more effort could be made to either have tables in a bar area or a separate room. The bedroom was a little dated - no sink in the bathroom which was a little odd. Breakfast was not up to the same standard as dinner. Coffee was very weak and watery. Bread was standard sliced bread.
