“We arrived at battlesteads hotel on Monday after a long journey. We stayed in the luxury lodge with was lovely and warm on our arrival. The lodge was spotlessly clean every day and the hotel/staff were lovely and friendly the snug with the log burner was a bonus for me. The highlight was the dark skies tour of the night sky for me as they have an observatory on site. It’s amazing what you can see through a telescope.”

“We have never stayed in a hotel with our dog before, we usually stay in cottages so thought we would give it a try. No problems with the hotel at all, unfortunately our dog couldn't settle because of the different noises she heard. We were in a ground floor room near reception as my wife has mobility issues, so consequently their was noise. We left early because of this and my wife wasn't well. The hotel, staff and food were all great, we would stay again but not with our dog. So back to cottages for the foreseeable future.”

“Fabulous room and great food. But no fridge in room. Staff very pleasant. Great location, good parking, lovely garden and an Observatory in the garden. Never got a chance to use. However I noticed they’d left something off our bill. Duly added. Had to force a thank you out of them. It’s the little things….”

“This was our second stay at the Battlesteads hotel which is one of the very best places to stay in Northumberland . Our lovely dog Sammy is very friendly and enjoyed the short break plus extra attention and sausages and hopes to return soon.”

“We stayed for 2 nights in spacious lodge. Had everything you could ever need and spotlessly clean. We had the eight couse taster menu on the first night which was super tasty and varied. Great wine and real ale selection. All of the staff are warm and friendly. This was our 3rd stay and won't be our last. Great walks by the river for your dog.”

“We were made to feel very welcome on arrival including the dog and our grandaughter Our lodges were superb with everything we could need. The food was very good. Our package included the 8 course taster menu which was a lovely experience to share with our son and his wife who were with us on our break. We will certainly be visiting again, it was the second visit for our son and his wife who were the ones who suggested we come with them”
