This hotel was in a beautiful setting and surrounded by woodland and walks for the dogs. The room was big and clean and had French doors opening onto a courtyard which was very handy when letting the dogs out. Bedding and treats for the dogs was provided. Food was excellent and the staff are warm and welcoming towards humans and dogs. The spa was excellent and after a trip into Bishops Stortford was a welcome treat. Our 2 GRS had a great time and we would go again

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? My dog is nervous in new situations and in spite his barking and excitement - everyone took time to welcome him and assure him. A truly dog friendly beautiful place with lovely people. Our hotel room couldn’t have been more perfect with direct access t
Every aspect of our stay was lovely so much so, that I will be making this a regular trip. The beauty and peace of Down Hall, the warm welcoming and helpfulness of everyone there, our room, the great quality of the food and the wonderful Eden Spa made a wonderful breath of fresh air.

Hotel was under construction to the terrace and cocktail bar closed. You cab eat in the lounge with your dog. But no staff actively check this area so service is pretty much 0. The rooms are great for dogs though have a nice little cushion and bowl and the grass area out side the rooms is perfect. The walks around the grounds as well were lovely. Feel once they get the staff issued sorted then it will be a nice stay.

A stunning hotel, set in beautifully manicured grounds. Friendly staff from the moment we arrived, with excellent food and a bed we just didn't want to get out of! The dogs were made welcome, and had treats and bedding; they were as mellow as we were.

We went to Down Hall for a weekend break with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Billy, and our 9 year old son. There was a lovely surprise in our room on arrival - a bed for Billy and a goody bag with treats and toys to keep him occupied. The room was spacious and comfortable and had stairs straight out to the garden making it easy for letting Billy out when needed. There is a bar area where you can eat with your dog if you’d like. Also beautiful and extensive grounds to go for a walk - if you ask at reception they will give you a map to guide you. All in all, we had a lovely break and will definitely return in the future.

Myself, my husband and our dog Molly spent a couple of days at Down Hall Hotel & Spa. We had a great stay, I couldn't find fault. The room was excellent, with patio doors directly opening onto a lawn area, perfect for our springer spaniel. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even supplying 'take-away' sausages at breakfast for our dog. The hotel itself is beautiful, the food in the restaurant outstanding we enjoyed walking through the grounds with our dog allowed to wander freely off lead, definitely needed with an energetic spaniel. Overall stay was 5 stars, we will definitely return.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. Penelope loved Walkies round the grounds. The patio rooms make it so much easier with a doggy
