A very surprising little gem that from the road looked like just an average public house. However inside was warm and inviting and all the staff were very polite and friendly. When we checked in we were given very courteous service and our room was spotless and well-furnished. What was most spectacular was the welcome to our dog he was most certainly made to feel as wanted as us and we are sure he thoroughly enjoyed himself

Hotel was very welcoming for dogs but the bedroom was tiny with a very dirty stained carpet. Menu was good and the staff very friendly and efficient.

We had a lovely stay with our golden retriever. Room was spotless and very comfortable. The food was delicious and there was even a doggie menu. Would definitely recommend

1 night stay posh room with hot tub facing south downs.Dog wise i ate an ice cream whilst waiting for owners to drink their wine, and also a sausage for breakfast while they had coffee.on a busy road so was grateful for bridleway attached to pub so we could then get on to back field.

Welldiggers were brilliant, embarrassing when leaving as pets pyjamas had not passed on payment yet it was sorted by staff very quickly but being told we had not paid was most upsetting. you could do better pets pyjams.

We and our dog, Freddie were made to feel really welcome, we had a luxury room with the bath in the room, loved it! The food and the drink selection were excellent and the staff were fantastic !

We stayed with our two mini schnauzers at The Welldiggers Arms for 2 nights and we had a lovely time. The room looked out over the Downs and was perfect for a couple of nights. We were hugely blessed with the weather and actually sat outside our room on the terrace a couple of times with a drink, enjoying the sun. In March! We had both breakfast and dinner at the Inn and the food was superb. Despite having some supply issues when we were staying, and a few things missing from the menus, the staff were so helpful and accommodating, even given us extra bits and pieces to make up for this. We also loved the fact that lots of the produce was locally sourced and the wine was from nearby wineries. It is definitely very dog friendly and we saw lots of dogs at the Inn during our stay. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and would happily recommend a stay with your dogs or even restaurant visit. The location is great too with lots of fantastic walks nearby, Petworth Park is gorgeous and we drove to a couple of forest walks, using the AllTrails app for those. There is a circular walk that starts at the Welldiggers, however, it was a little bit too muddy at this time of year and I have two very strange dogs that don't like muddy paws!

My husband and I had a night away (with the dog) and we all had a fabulous time! The staff were super friendly (and all mad about dogs), the room was clean & comfy and the food was really excellent. Lovely walking nearby, we will definitely go again!
