“On arrival, we tried to check-in to be told that we needed to pay the the full amount, even though we paid the full amount to Pets Pyjamas nearly a month beforehand, but it hadn’t been given to the venue. All quite awkward and not a good start to our trip. Room was badly maintained, toilet blocked and cleaner just left it, roof of room had been leaking and it left stains over the walls, fence outside falling down. Worst part was there was not hot water for 2 days in the shower and at one pint no cold water coming out of the sink tap. Very disappointed and it put a real dampener on my birthday trip.”

“Lovely room with (as we discovered in the morning!) a fantastic view of the South Downs. Entrely dog-friendly everywhere, and even a bridle path running alongside the car park for that early morning run. Also excellent dinner.”

“Beautiful area. Lovely rooms I really did love the room and the pub. When we arrived there were two ladies clesrly laughing and talking about me as I had rollers in my hair. So as I first walked in I already felt annoyed and felt they were really unprofessional. We paid £65 each for the nye party. Which included a Prosecco on arrival and one at midnight. When we arrived for this I had to ask for our Prosecco. The buffet they provided was very average. I am plant based so could only eat chips. The live singer was good thank goodness for them or we would be asking for a refund. At midnight we saw a lady coming out with Prosecco but she actually went and gave them to the singer and band not to us the guests who had paid? Again I had to go in and ask for it. Would not be paying £130 again for two to go to the nye party complete waste of money and terrible service. Breakfast the next day was nice and the walk next to the pub was nice. Shame about the quality of service for this reason I wouldn’t go back again. The room price was good at least and a nice room.”

“Lovely pub with good food. However, on our first night there were very few people in the dining room. We felt the staff couldn’t wait to get rid of us. They rushed us to order and announced at 9:25 that the bar was closing in 5 minutes! As residents, this left us with no chance of another drink and nowhere to go. The room we stayed in was clean and cosy but the bed was torturously hard. Honestly, we rarely complain but would not stay here again. Shame. Some lovely staff on day 2 and a gorgeous spot.”

“Had a wonderful time staying at The Welldiggers Arms. Barry & his staff catered to all our needs & more. The room with a view lived up to its name & the patio area was a bonus especially with having 2 dogs. The food was very enjoyable & the dogs loved their morning treat. Would recommend with or without dogs as we never felt our 2 springer spaniels were in the way.”

“A great place to visit and/or stay with your dog. The staff are friendly to customers human and canine. We didn't do many walks from the inn due to other commitments. But Petworth Park is very close by hand there dog friendly beaches a short drive away.”

“Lovely room with view clean and comfortable there were some stains on the carpet as someone mentioned but that made it less of a concern bringing our dog in”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Its in a great location and could be a great place but at the moment it is a place to avoid

“stayed in a very small room not any floor space for a dog . The food was of poor quality throughout the stay”
