“What a super hotel. Nothing to much trouble for them. All staff very pleasant to humans and dogs. Lovely grounds for the dog/dogs to run around. Nice little touches for the four legged pets. Poo bags, treats and towels available on wet days.”

“We really enjoyed our stay at The Fox and Hounds. A delightful hotel with wonderful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Delicious breakfasts every morning, the scrambled eggs were the best. We enjoyed our evening meals in the restaurant, the food was freshly cooked to order and we couldn't fault it. Our dog was made very welcome as was every other dog staying at the hotel. A lovely walk behind the hotel which was perfect for the morning and late afternoon walk.”

“Everything about our stay was excellent, food,room,staff and the hotel itself. Plenty of people with dogs , even during breakfast and dinner, with all dogs sitting happily under or round the tables. Yes, there were visitors without dogs but they all seemed happy with the doggy situation. Drink prices were reasonable. The staff were excellent, the hotel was kept very clean and the external grounds as well. We went for 5 nights mid week, at weekends you may get a small wedding party. The hotel was quiet at night. Overall , we will definitely be going back”

“The hotel is set in a beautiful and remote location with lovely grounds. The interior is quite dated and the room we were given was not as expected, very tired with tatty furnishings and no basic touches you expect. Our door did not shut properly either and you could hear other guests in the rooms either side and in the corridor. The team were very welcoming but our dog quickly became overwhelmed as he could not relax in our room nor in any of the public spaces. Sadly there were several dogs off leads in the grounds and one attacked our puppy leaving him very nervous of other dogs since. We booked with a meal plan but the £35 supplement would not cover two courses and an alcoholic drink. When our dog would not settle in the restaurant we ended up having to sit in a separate room following complaints and continuous glaring from other guests who did not have a dog. Unfortunately as our dog was so overwhelmed and we were made to feel so unwelcome by fellow guests, we left just 4 hours after checking in. The staff tried to provide solutions to make us stay, but we felt this was more about money than our pets wellbeing and this experience has put us off of wanting to use pets pyjamas again or indeed, stay in another “dog friendly” hotel. Disgusted to see that this review has also been removed! This explains how all the rest are so positive as clearly this company are not being honest with customers!”

“Just returned from a lovely stay at the fox & hounds. Is it a 5 star hotel no it isn't but it is very homely & welcoming & it is clean & comfortable. Also the staff can't do enough for you & so lovely to stay somewhere that the dog is really welcomed everywhere! Our dog had a lovely time & has come back home shattered from his adventures! The other lovely part of the hotel is the lower garden where we were able to let the dog run around safely & there is even access to the river for him to have a paddle. The food was very good & would recommend the fish & chips which was the best we've had for a long time. One night I had the lamb on the menu & although it was absolutely lovely I did feel that there could have been more lamb on the plate & the next night my husband had the chicken dish & he felt similar that it tasted superb but there could have been more of it esp for the price. So we felt that they had the pub classic dishes spot on but for the top end menu options the meat portions didn't reflect the prices as well. The decor was starting to look very dated & with some clever eye this place could be made so much more...however we really enjoyed our stay & we will be back. All in all a lovely little break. Thanks”

“Absolutely dog friendly hotel. Acres of land to stroll and exercise dogs with the added bonus of being able to bring them into the breakfast room and the hotel restaurant when eating and dining. Extremely friendly staff who couldn’t be more guest and pet orientated . Will definitely visit again.”

“Hotel was brilliant, very person and dog friendly! We had a massive room for 2 adults, 2 teens and a dog. Dinner and breakfast both good quality. Lovely staff and atmosphere at the hotel. Would definitely go again!”
