“Lovely hotel with great views . Clean . Very friendly pleasant staff . Not a great variety of spirits eg: Grey Goose Vodka . Would had like a small fridge in the room for our Dog’s food . Great breakfast in the Common Room which is dog friendly. Nice and relaxed atmosphere.”

“We have booked dog friendly hotels before to be disappointed at the limited access our dog has had. Not the case at The Bear our dog was treated like royalty with our own dog friendly dinning room to treats and cuddles at reception. Beautiful hotel with the most amazing views and country walks would highly recommend.”

“The hotel really is dog friendly. The garden is a fantastic place to relax with an outside bar and TV. Wonderful food served by very friendly staff. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is the place .”

“We spent one night here on our way back from a lovely holiday in Cornwall, and enjoyed dinner with friends at the hotel, as well as the beautiful ambience of the hotel and our room. The setting was beautiful, there was plenty of parking, and the beer garden was very large and family- and dog- friendly. Inside, the main building, is a little bit labyrinthine, but this only added to the charm, and there was good signage and plenty of helpful team members; our room was not in the main building, so the advice received ahead of time to not bring our luggage to checkin was very helpful! Our room was perfect, with everything we needed, and a beautiful view. Our mini dachshund appreciated the special bed provided. The bar was very relaxing; we arrived ahead of check-in time and were able to sit and watch the tennis ladies' final and enjoy a couple of drinks. Dinner was very good, with a beautiful, separate dining room for those of us who had a dog; the only criticism we could make about dinner was that, perhaps, portions were a little large. Afterwards, we were able to find some nice soft seats for a cosy late evening chat with our dinner guests and, of course, our dog. After a great night's rest, breakfast was all we could hope for and more, with an excellent selection, superb service, and a sliced up sausage for our sausage dog! We were sad to leave, but our stay gave us a flavour of what the area is like and we plan to return for a longer break.”

“As this hotel is next to Rodborough Common it’s great for dog walking. The staff are friendly & there are bowls of dog treats in public areas. The service is good & the human food too. Our only criticism is the bedroom size. We had 1 medium & 1 small dog & it was a bit cramped so if you have more than 1 dog ask for a big enough to accommodate you all.”

“Lovely area for dogs right on rodborough common and surrounds. Comfortable rooms for us and the dog and some great little touches. Dog baskets in the room, sausage breakfast for the dog if you'd like it, bowls and treats. Dining room area was very comfortable for us and Max and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Food was decent country inn style menu which suited us perfectly. Thanks to the Bear team.”

“Catered for both owners and dogs but also allowing for time for both parties to be on their own. Designated areas to take your pet which means its good fr other residents without animals.”
