“We were allocated 'Priory' room on ground floor which is good for dog friendly room. We were expecting a luxurious, well decorated and furnished room. It is dingy, only having two windows approx 3' wide, sill approx 4' from floor. Windows deeply recessed due to thick walls. Glass coated with frosted film with cut outs in shape of ferns to give smallest area of clear glass. If windows open, only view is into small courtyard with other ground floor and first floor rooms overlooking ours. Room was so dingy that the lights had to be on whenever in the room. Walls of room decorated with magnolia emulsion with cream painted woodwork. No drapes at windows, just mundane roman blinds. Bed was two 3' singles put together (was at least comfortable) with a large upholstered headboard that was the only colour in the room. The rest of furniture was mundane to say the least. Wet room was fine but only place to store toiletries etc was on windowsill. No bath. Bar area, where required to dine with dog, was comfortable but not exceptional. Food was good and staff overall friendly and helpful. Our booking was from Monday to Saturday. At 7.30am on the Sunday Morning before arrival I received an email from the hotel requesting payment for the room and completion of online check in. This caused some consternation when we had paid Pets Pyjamas a month earlier. I am very cautious regarding scams but I was concerned that I had been scammed and searched internet to satisfy myself Pets Pyjamas was genuine. I rang the hotel about 9.30am to have it confirmed that all was OK. On arrival I complained about this and was told that when Pets Pyjamas makes payment you obviously deduct your commision. The hotels I/T system thinks there is still a balance outstanding. I told them their system should be amended to avoid unnecessary anxiety to guests. This was our first holiday for 5 years, having taken on a very nervous rescue dog that could not be left with anyone. There would be more luxury in a Holiday Inn or similar hotel than in our bedroom and we feel that we were massively overcharged for the standard of accomodation we were allocated.”

Would you like to add any more feedback about your stay? Due to the cost of living today we felt that the in house prices were on the expensive side,if they had been not so expensive we would have used there restaurant and bar more

“Staff very friendly hotel and service good. We had a room on the top floor the room was spacious and very clean no lifts which would have been a problem if not in good health . The dog was well cared for and he had his sausage treat for Breakfast would book again if visiting the Cotswolds area.”

“The welcome on a rainy evening was very warm for us and our 2 Labradors Everyone was most attentive and the dogs were fully accommodated. The evening meail was great and we would certainly visit The Close Hotel again.”

“Just returned from a fabulous Christmas stay at The Close Hotel. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and it was dog heaven. The stockings on Christmas morning were a lovely touch - along with the dog treat trolley, comfy beds and overall ambience. Would love to go back!”
