We have been going to South Lodge for a few years now and we have noticed some decline in the food choices, with room service options more limited and unchanged Bar/Food menus. There is also a lack of healthier options in the kids menu (mostly fried instead of of grilled). With three restaurants on site, it's odd that you are unable to order from the "healthier" one from the garden suites. The garden suites need an update (given how much they cost per night); the furnishings are sparse and getting old. I guess all the attention is now on the even more expensive water villas. Further, because of the water villas, some of the paths that we used to walk our dog are now cut-off, resulting in turning around. Finally, the now complete lack of any night illumination at the gardens/terrace means close encounters with wild life that cross those fields.

This is such a fabulous, stunning hotel. We love staying here as a very special treat for our anniversary. The staff are wonderful, special thanks for Cedrick and Eleanor (Eles). Very dog friendly, Marlie was treated as a very special guest too. Thank you South Lodge, see you again next year. Heather & Kirsty x

Coronation weekend spent at wonderful South lodge . Received a friendly welcome back from the staff and lots of attention for Oliver our excitable staffie . Our room was clean and spacious and opened straight out to the grounds with gorgeous views of the South Downs. Huge bathroom with plenty of Molton Brown toiletries/ robes and slippers . From gin & tonics in the stylish bar to excellent food in the Camellia and breakfast in the Botanica restaurant in the spa everything was perfect ! The Pass restaurant has just been awarded a Michelin star and was full while we were there so best to book in advance . Plenty of long dog walks on our doorstep so we didnā€™t feel too guilty leaving Oliver while we had our meal . The Spa is absolutely amazing - highly recommend!

This hotel was absolutely fabulous from the very moment we checked in. Such a warm welcome for us and an even warmer welcome for our dog, treats galore! The room is one of the best - opening directly to the hotels beautiful grounds, where you can literally walk from your bedroom doors straight onto an abundance of beautiful walks. The spa, is quite simply one of the best I have been too, and the Spa restaurant is an absolute must. Five stars from the humans and Five paws from the dog!

Pets Pyjamas had a good value 2 night stay offer. Positives: - the spa is truly amazing. Very modern, great facilities such as the outdoor hydrotherapy pool, an outdoor swimming pond and indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms and a lovely outdoor terrace for drinks and indoor restaurant. - the grounds are huge and our puppy was able to roam free anywhere outside - the breakfast at Botanica - the room was huge and had direct outdoor access for our puppy. - room service for breakfast was very fast and the staff were very friendly snd helpful Negatives: - two of the restaurants were closed for dinner during our stay which meant we had to dine at the more stuffy, traditional Camelia. The menu was very limited which wasnā€™t great when you have to eat there two nights running. - both nights we were seated in very quiet ante rooms. We were eventually moved to the more lively main room after the first course on the second night. Camelia restaurant is very dated and lets the hotel down. - the bar is very small and lots of guests were forced to have drinks in the lounge which again is very dated. Overall we really enjoyed our stay as the room was huge with direct outdoor access for our puppy. The grounds are amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was out of this world. I just wish the hotel would upgrade the main restaurant or at least open the other two restaurants to offer more choice.

My daughter and I and our two dogs, Amira and Simba, all had a lovely time at South Lodge Hotel last week. As well as a great stay, with excellent food, and all being housed very comfortably in a pleasant room with a small patio with French doors opening directly on to it, we were lucky with lovely, warm sunny weather and we did a lot of exploring and walking around the area. The problem arose when we came to pay our bill. I had paid to Pets Pyjamas on June 27th, with my AmEx card, a deposit of Ā£580.00 followed, on July 5th, by the remaining amount of Ā£1,232.00 i.e. a total of Ā£1,760.00. However, according to the hotel records, the hotel had received only a sum of Ā£1,379.84. This led to a very protracted checking out, and in the end - being told it was a matter for Pets Pyjamas and not the hotel - I paid a total of Ā£519.30 to the hotel to clear what, according to their records, was the extra I owed to them. It wasn't the best ending to an otherwise enjoyable stay. On reaching home, I looked at the bill again, and saw we had also been charged an additional Ā£56.63 on each of the 2 occasions when we had dinner in the Camellia restaurant. Regarding those two dinners I had thought we had a Ā£42 credit each. Indeed the hotel staff told us that was the case. Yet, the only extra we ordered on either of the two nights was one bottle of water between us, surely the charge could not have been more than Ā£20 on each occasion for that one bottle of water? We were told there was no provision for us to enjoy dinner in the Botanica at this time. We did eventually make a booking for lunch, but cancelled that before-hand as it would have interrupted an enjoyable day out. I would be most grateful if Pets Pyjamas would look into these discrepancies, how they occurred and have them rectified. With many thanks, Patricia
