Room was compact yet perfect, clean and well thought out. Food was delicious, lots of gluten free options and clever adaptions. Service was attentive, warm and friendly. Very dog friendly, dig bed, snacks and towel provided. Dogs welcome in all areas. Excellent location for beach and walks.

The 3 of us (me, wife & our Golden retriever- Connie) stayed at the ship for 1 night, a lovely pub with a relaxing, "Old school" feel and very friendly & helpful staff. The Pub is dog friendly with lots of people & their hounds in the bar area. Food is decent pub grub and whilst the menu was not massively imaginative their Fish & Chips were excellent! We stared in of the larger rooms at the back, facing onto the beer garden, which was ideal for the furry one when she needed to nip out for a wee @ 4 in the morning! The room was nice and well equipped in terms of furnishings and amenities, whilst not high end, it was certainly above average. There were treats, beds and towels for the hound waiting in the room which was a nice touch. The area has fantastic beach just around the corner which is ideal for dogs to explore, and play, one of biggest in the area I would think. There are also a number of great walks away for the beach for you to explore. Overall a lovely short break with an ideal setting for your dog, would definitely recommend the ship inn & the area!

Many pluses including excellent breakfast and lovely staff. The bar area is not very comfortable and as we got stranded due to storm no where relaxing to settle E. G with sofas. Bedroom clean and comfortable but duvet very lumpy. Bar and staircase needed a thorough clean. Dinners were variably. Mackerel delicious but fish and chips not so good (batter burnt). Curry lovely taste but too many carbs. Bed for dog in room with bowl and some treats was a lovely touch

What an amazing find! I had originally booked with Pet's Pyjamas for myself and my dog Timmy, but had to add an extra night at the start, booked independently. Very pleasant and friendly check-in, small but beautifully appointed bedroom and a lovely bathroom. With soft pillows and a duvet, I had the best night of sleep I have had for months. Put the heating on for a while as it was the first cold night of the year, but it was so effective I had to turn it off after 30 minutes. There was a dog bed and bowl, and a lovely treat biscuit which he devoured! Bar had a great selection of drinks, and the food menu, (Sunday and Monday) was great. Breakfast was lovely, and they accommodated my request of fried bread rather than toasted sourdough. They even provided "doggie sausage" for Timmy at breakfast. The staff, most of whom seemed young, have been PERFECTLY trained in the art of Customer Service - they do a GREAT job and should all be rewarded. Very near the beach for walkies, a perfect location. Only one suggestion - non-slip bathmats, please! Otherwise, this is the way to run a hotel/restaurant. Top drawer, 10 out of 10, thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We had a very nice stay at The Ship at Dunwich. We had a snug room with our dog, which was quite comfortable, although in hindsight it was quite small for us - we would go for a larger room next time
