This is an extremely dog friendly hotel, my standard poodle Hugo was treated like a celebrity by staff and guests. Beautiful amazing gardens, big enough to take your dog for a satisfying walk without having to leave the grounds. The hotel itself is immaculate, we ate most nights in the newly renovated Nelsons bar… where you can take your dog, Hugo was always welcomed with open arms and immediately water was brought to him with our drinks. The main restaurant (which my sister and myself went in once whilst my husband looked after Hugo) had stunning decor and is very sophisticated with a sophisticated menu to match the surroundings. We spent an afternoon in the spa’s glorious huge pool with a few lounges surrounding it, water is a bit cold so I just stuck to the lovely warm jacuzzi, there is also a steam room and a sauna off the pool area and a lovely treatment area upstairs. The whole spa is very modern and well-kept and again beautiful decor. We were lucky and had glorious weather so able to get out a lot, very close to the border of Wales with Rhyl only an hours drive away… spent a lovely day there and also visited Shopshire, very friendly eating places on the way that are happy for you to take your dog inside to eat with you out of the soaring heat. The only reason I have not given this hotel five stars is because I was not entirely happy with our room. We were in a executive room ( room 7) which had lovely decor. The actual room is slightly below ground level…. This made the room very dark and cold, even though the temperature outside was 29° and bright sunshine. The lovely decor was in a deep burgundy which again made the room appear even darker, I personally found the room very cold and depressing. On a positive note this room does have access outside to a grassy area where you can stretch your dogs legs or take it for a quick toilet…. don’t let your dog off the lead there is no secure fencing. Other a little quibble…. It was great that all staff wore face mask but very strange that the majority had their noses hanging out or just covered their chins with them.. especially in the dining areas. All in all a lovely hotel and lovely staff… and would definitely go again and stay in a different room.

Staff a bit indifferent.Last visit in2019 our room was on ground floor, ideal for older dog, this visit room on 1st floor, eventually moved due to a/c not working. Booked spa treatments on arrival but when we turned up for appointment they had booked the wrong day staff not interested in rectifying the issue.Put a damper on our last day as we had booked the swimming pool for after our treatments.Very very disappointed
